The Pope has also said so…Perhaps a nudge from him is necessary to get all the bishops in line with the Church on this.
I’m afraid it would take a lot more than a “nudge”.

Maybe repeated bludegeoning with a blunt object of sufficient weight and mass, perhaps.

And you can expect legislative and judicial retaliation from the left if you even dare stand up to the liberals. Just look at what happened in San Francisco with the council there condemning the Catholic Church.

father Mitch Pacwa just addressed this on the EWTN morning Mass. “Pray for those who preach falsely, but do not be fooled by false teachings” He actually made comment of her statment. I think these are words of wisdom. I’ve changed my mind and my comments of her. I was once like her and made comments that went against the teachings of our church. But by the Grace of God I have come to know that I was in error. Maybe just maybe if we all prayed for her for a conversion of heart, we’d have a faithful catholic as speaker of the house. God works in mysterious ways. Wouldn’t it be something!

It’s not surprising that the Church would be persecuted for standing for truth. Wasn’t that foretold in Sacred Scripture (Luke 21:12)? Along the lines of

There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place; and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.

"Before all this happens, however, they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name.

To have the kind of moral courage that Archbishops Chaput and Burke have demonstrated won’t win any popularity contests, but I get the impression that they care more about their responsibilities as shepherds than hobnobbing with the nation’s elite. I think they are looking up, not left.

Washington archbishop rips Pelosi on abortion By Bob Cusack Posted: 08/25/08 11:29 PM [ET] In a rare public rebuke of a top politician, the archbishop of Washington said Monday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was incorrect when she recently said the moment of conception has long been a matter of controversy within the Catholic Church.

In a release issued Monday night, Washington Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl said Pelosi’s comments on “Meet the Press” on Sunday “were incorrect.”

:newidea: I’ve been pondering this since yesterday when I heard the interview and read the transcript to be sure I’d heard correctly. I think the emails to Nancy Pelosi will give her a sense of the righteous outrage that people have but will not undo the damage she’s done.

Therefore, I’m posting below the contact information for the Archdiocese of SF and the Archdiocese of Washington DC. It seems that IF she is publicly corrected by one of these Archbishops AND it makes the national news and newspapers, maybe, maybe it will serve to correct some of the public misperception. Phone calls or letters are best; these two archbishops don’t have personal emails posted, only an information office (but that’s better than none at all). If you are inclined to do so, you can also thank Archbishop Chaput who has been consistent (and often solitary) in his outspoken defense of our faith. Interestingly, he DOES has a personal email address posted and, in my experience, emails receive a response.

You must publicly denounce Pelosi’s misstatemetns on Meet the Press.

Bishop, please publicly invite her to a meeting with you to bring her up to date on her Catholicism. She claims she has not been denied Holy Communion. Please counsel her on this. She is a public obstinate sinner and must be denied the Holy Sacrament so as not to profane it and cause grave scandal to the faithful.

Ok everybody… who knows who the moderators are for the Vice Presidential debate. I would like to send them messages requesting that they ask Joe Biden to comment on Nancy Pelosi’s words.

I would love to hear what Joe Biden says.

From Meet The Press- 8-24-08

Tom Brokaw asked, " saying the question of when life begins is above his ‘pay grade,’ when whether you’re looking at it ‘scientifically or theologically,’ if he were to come and say, ‘Help me out here Madam Speaker,’ what would you tell him?"

PELOSI: *As an ardent practicing Catholic, uh, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is over the centuries, the doctors of the church **have not been able to make that definition, ***and, uh, senator – uh, I’m – senator – Uh, St. Augustin’ (sic) said at three months. We don’t know. The point is is that it shouldn’t have an impact on a woman’s right to choose. Roe v. Wade talks about very clear definitions of when the child – uh, eh, er, first trimester, certain considerations second trimester, not so third trimester. The – the – there’s very clear distinctions

This is ridiculus. THE Church has NEVER waivered on when life begins since 70AD. I dont’ know what planet she has been on.

The gall of Pelosi trying to redefine Catholic Doctrine and Faith.

It really bothers me non Catholic Americans, will now associate Church teaching with Pelosi.
The Planet of the “Liberal, Secular, Relativistic, Cafeteria Plan, Disobedient” - you name it.

I agree that there is no difference, biologically speaking. But morally speaking, I think most women who use contraception honestly are not aware that it can be abortive.
A fact that has been known since the 50’s and conveniently hid.

No, Rush is not Catholic. But he gets it right when he talks about this issue.
I heard him, and yes, and it’s not the first time he’s got Catholic teaching right either:thumbsup: . It is sad though when a non-Catholic understands what the Church teachings are and someone who is a life-long Catholic dosen’t have a clue:( .

Enough for Rush already.! This is an important topic and I hate to see it derailed into a discussion of Rush Limbaugh
.
Alright Bob. I don’t want to see this derailed, but it is relavant in the fact that Rush(a non-Catholic) get’s it right and he reaches millions people. Most likely any Bishops reply to Pelosi’s remarks won’t get that much coverage. He did Catholics a service, imo. That’s all I want to say.

STATEMENT OF HIS EMINENCE, EDWARD CARDINAL EGAN CONCERNING REMARKS MADE BY THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESLike many other citizens of this nation, I was shocked to learn that the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America would make the kind of statements that were made to Mr. Tom Brokaw of NBC-TV on Sunday, August 24, 2008. What the Speaker had to say about theologians and their positions regarding abortion was not only misinformed; it was also, and especially, utterly incredible in this day and age.

We are blessed in the 21st century with crystal-clear photographs and action films of the living realities within their pregnant mothers. No one with the slightest measure of integrity or honor could fail to know what these marvelous beings manifestly, clearly, and obviously are, as they smile and wave into the world outside the womb. In simplest terms, they are human beings with an inalienable right to live, a right that the Speaker of the House of Representatives is bound to defend at all costs for the most basic of ethical reasons. They are not parts of their mothers, and what they are depends not at all upon the opinions of theologians of any faith. Anyone who dares to defend that they may be legitimately killed because another human being “chooses” to do so or for any other equally ridiculous reason should not be providing leadership in a civilized democracy worthy of the name.Edward Cardinal EganArchbishop of New York

I suppose the good coming from this is that the REAL Catholic position on abortion is finally getting some major media coverage. There should be NO excuse for any Catholic in America to say they do not fully understand this now - between Rush Limbaugh and the USCCB, it’s being made pretty darn clear to everyone. Including the Speaker.

Now - whether or not she or anyone else chooses to accept that Truth, well, that’s up to them and God I suppose. But I’ll bet that He will have something to say about that opinion when the time comes. 😉

I was watching the show, and I think even Brokaw was a bit taken aback by her statement. It was one of the MANY Sundays I’ve missed Tim Russert.

Can you please provide a link for this quote? I would like to send this out to some people in an email. 😉

Thanks!!!

I will assert that Nancy Pelosi has formally cooperated in numerous procured abortions due to her support of abortion laws. As a result, she has excommunicated herself from the Catholic Church. I will further assert that unless and until she repents, she is, despite her claims to the contrary, not actually Catholic.

I wonder how long Nancie Pelosi he is going to get away with issuing “no comment” to repeated requests for her reaction to the bishops and now a Cardinal condemning her comments.

I also notice a conspicuous absence of comments by her Bishop.
