National Catholic Register to Launch Weekly Program on EWTN Radio

The National Catholic Register has announced the launch of “Register Radio,” its first ever radio program. The program will air its first episode on the EWTN Radio Network on Sept. 2.

Tim Drake talks a bit about the project, and describes the content of the first show.

So, Friday, September 2nd, at 2 p.m. Eastern, we’re launching “Register Radio.” Think of it as an audio version of some of your favorite Register content. We’ll be talking with Register writers and bloggers, newsmakers, Steven Greydanus, the Register’s film critic, and many others.

If you tune in tomorrow, you’ll get to hear Father Matthew Gamber recap his experiences at World Youth Day in Madrid, and Dan Burke will be talking with popular Register blogger Jennifer Fulwiler about the topic of abortion and grace.

Of course, Friday is past. However, the show will repeat on Saturday and Sunday.

I think this is an interesting venture. EWTN basically saved National Catholic Register from bankruptcy when it purchased the failing magazine earlier this year. This show seeks to share some of the gems of the magazine with EWTN’s radio audience. And if some of the radio audience decide to subscribe to the magazine, so much the better.

I wonder if EWTN is considering expanding the NCR show to a daily basis? Or even creating a similar show from its television programming?
