You might use eatwellguide.org/index.cfm to use your zipcode and see where in your community you can purchase the organic food items you want–like free range chicken eggs/meat. Hope that helps!
Buffalo meat is ok…if you like venison you’ll like it.Thanks, Abby! I found a couple of places not too far from here.
One of them does buffalo meat–anyone had that? Is it any good?
For all you ladies–how do your husband feel about this eating organic, natural living stuff? DH isn’t totally sold. He’s not opposed, but he was a little surprised that I paid $3.50 for a half gallon of milk the other day. He’s supportive of what he sees as my eccentricities!

You think so? I don’t like venison (find it too sweet sort of) but don’t mind bison at all. I like to use ground for chili etc. The meat is super lean though, so if you overcook a roast or steak you get a weird texture.

we do buy raw goat milk…as to cow milk have no idea…but goat milk (raw) is safe and tasty…but for some it is an acquired taste.I find vension ok if i stick it in a crock pot and make pulled BBQ out of it…but otherwise i don’t really like the taste.
I noticed that there is a farm out here by us called Hendricks Farms (we live outside of Philadelphia) and they sell all varities of meat…i am wondering if anyone who lives out here has gone there or heard of them…
Also how safe is RAW milk? Does anyone buy it on here? Thanks![]()
There are many good vegetarian burgers out there. I am vegan and eat lots of nuts and grains and beans. I have no trouble getting enough protein. Also, if you are not doing the vegan thing, you can have fish and cheese and eggs. I cut these out because I have a lousy family history. My dh & I have just started a vegetarian diet, mostly because he was just diagnosed with lymphoma. (Please Pray) I’m having trouble with lack of protein, so if anyone has any good ways to add protein, please let me know. Thank you.
Peace,
Linda
"enriched" flour (or enriched anything) basically means that they took something that was whole and healthy and processed it so much that most, if not all, of the natural nutrition is gone so they need to enrich the end product by adding in synthetic vitamins and nutrients. No diferent than adding a multi-vitamin to a Coke and calling it healthy, lol.So what’s the deal with “enriched flour”? I hear that “stone ground wheat” is better for you than “enriched” or so my lovely girlfriend says… I’m organic / healthy food ignorant (although I am picking up stuff little by little from my lovely lady)…
ted Slanker’s e-mail and website does not think so, go to texasgrassfedbeef.com and read what he has to say. I am no expert, but he has info on what “organic” really means on meat and poultry labels. Thanks, One of them does buffalo meat–anyone had that? Is it any good?
For!
I did not see anything in there regarding “organic” and its meaning on labels…can you actually provide the page link to that?ted Slanker’s e-mail and website does not think so, go to texasgrassfedbeef.com and read what he has to say. Good news about Raw milk. Also how safe is RAW milk? Does anyone buy it on here? Thanks![]()
Do you usually buy his family packs or just a breakdown of certain items? Can you tell a difference in taste between this and store bought meat? thankshere is a recent link to texas grass fed beef that works

click on the various topics and meet items at the top, and click on or subscribe to his e-mail letter, which is actually where he just talked about buffalo (among other topics, he is on a roll about fungus just now). links on the left talk about omega 3’s various natural nutrition topics. this is definitely not a vegetarian-friendly site. But I have been ordering my meat and poultry from them for 4 years. I simply can no longer eat supermarket meat, esp. beef. No source of free-range chicken and eggs here (used to buy Amish in Ohio). He is critical of “organic” labeled meat and poultry in grocery stores and explains why. His “beef” is that nature intended cows and chickens to eat grass and stuff, not grain, and the health problems with meat come from the grain diet. He claims organic producers still feed their cattle with grain so there is no health benefit.
He also has a lot to say about hormones in the meat, milk etc., which I think is also a topic of interest to those on this thread. He is a bit cranky, but I think everyone counter culture about food has to be a bit cranky.
