My doctor said I needed to do something before they could do the exam. I started by praying and then did it, then I disregarded my prayer and sinned. So since then I have been giving up little fasting (one I’m not very good at not doing but I’m trying, the others I have been stead-fast in fasting.), and not receiving communion until I go to confession. However, in the Act of Contrition we say “I firmly resolve to sin no more and avoid the near occasion of sin.” But I need to do the thing the doctor told me and that would put me in “near occasion of sin” so I feel like if I go to confession and pray that prayer I’d be lying because I’m not avoiding the near occasion! I DO NOT plan to sin again, but doing what the doctor told me will put me in temptation. I think I only need to do it a few more times before I go to the doctor again.
I did it two more times to see if I could do better at it and not sin. I prayed the entire time and did not sin. But then the second time while praying, I realized I was starting to sin! but as soon as I realized it I changed my situation so I wouldn’t sin and went back to praying as well. I still feel horrible.
So what am I supposed to do about going to confession and the “avoiding the near occasion of sin”?
I haven’t gone to confession yet because I don’t know what to do and I hadn’t had time to come post til now, and time’s running out to go before Christmas and I would like to receive absolution before Christmas so I can receive communion.
Thanks
