My, oh, my! Looks like the Holy Father and I are of the same opinion!
“Universalizing the tragic period, the Cardinal declares: “The shoah is a genocide like the other genocides of the 20th century.” But at the same time he acknowledges that “There is something special about an idolatrous construction against the Jewish people.”
The cardinal says Nazism hold a special place in the annals of totalitarianism because of its emphasis on racial purity and its placement of race on a higher plane than the divinity.
“The ideals of a pure race are the idols upon which the Nazis formed themselves … Every Jew that was killed is a strike against the living God in the name of the idols,” he says. “The devil was present in the idols which eased the human conscience.”
Having read what your link said about what Pope Francis when he was Cardinal, stated was that the Shoah or Holocaust of WW2 was that it was unique, distinct, etc. Of course that is true. Every genocide is unique. However just because it was unique doesn’t mean that there aren’t other Genocide’s or Holocausts.I am not going to belabor my point about comparing things to the Holocaust. Pope Francis has already spoken for me.
If your point is that the Holocaust of abortion shouldn’t be compared to the Shoah then explain why Pope John Paul II says the same thing?

Your link hardly substantiates that the Church believes that the word Holocaust should only refer to the extermination of Jews during WWII.So, quantity trumps quality (of sin) every time? Hmm. Perhaps you too should read Pope Francis’ feelings about this issue. (See my response to JMJSHJ.) I repeat that abortion is “a” holocaust but not “the” Holocaust. Even the Church believes that the word “holocaust” should only refer to the extermination of the Jews during WWII. See the red print:

The fact that a number of you have used the term “Shoah” leads me to believe that you are in accordance with what I–and the Holy Father–are saying.
Any regrets on voting for Pres. Obama?
