Raised Catholic. Don’t believe in God. Want to. Just can’t seem to accept there’s a God. Life just has no purpose. Not sure what I’m asking.

Being a good or a bad person - no reason for either. Just end up dead with life of no meaning.

I will pray that God comes into your heart and helps with your unbelief and feelings of no purpose.

Remember that you can still love your fellow man, even while you are struggling with doubt.

God Bless You

I do care about others- I don’t like to see others suffer. I try to help others if I can.

Just never had faith.

TY.

Welcome to CAF!

I will pray for you. I was once in a similar situation. I don’t think I ever doubted God’s existence, but I did doubt that Jesus was God and doubted that the Catholic Church could really teach the truth about God. I was probably headed in that direction until I encountered Christ in some profound ways.

Feel free to post questions! I’ll just warn you in advance to ignore those of us who are cranky. We mean well. 😜

TY. I’ve always never believed. Tried church. Read books. Nothing gets through my thick head.

I just never believed in a God. Since childhood. Never felt God even though I was taught about God.

You mentioned that you still want to believe in God. What is it that makes you want to believe?

So what, in you opinion is holding you back from belief?
Are you looking for proof?
A personal message?

You don’t like to see people suffering. This is excellent. You, my friend, are suffering. God doesn’t like to see this either. For our outpouring of compassion is a form of love of our neighbor, and God Himself commands us to “love one another”.
You have been gifted by God with life, and one that desire to be a servant to others. This is love. This is Gods Holy spirit moving and stirring within your soul.
If you have a crucifix, look at it right now. 'What do you see? When I look at mine, I see Christ’s arms stretched wide to embrace all my hurts, questions, and problems as His own.

Ask Him to show you mercy. Extend you arms and heart back to Him as a return for all the good in the world.
And then see if things don’t look brighter tomorrow.
God bless you, You are in my prayers.
Wishing you peace and love,
Clare

It’s pretty clear to me that there is a God, I feel like people that deny God exists are intentionally blinding themselves. Obviously, not saying that about you, I’m just saying that’s how I feel.

Posts like these are a reminder that faith is truly a gift of God and we should be thanking God for ours every day, because not everybody gets the gift, or at least doesn’t get it as easily.
We take our gift of faith for granted a lot, I think.

Hhmm… Life is too depressing. I want to believe because I want to stop feeling empty. I want to believe that all the bad stuff happening is for some purpose. Some reason.

It’s just a dog eat dog world then you die. Then nothing. Suffering for nothing.

If there was a God …IDK…there can’t be a God
A dead body can’t be resurrected. There’s no such thing as a soul. NDE can be scientifically explained.
I can’t get around the science.

First- is there anything that drove you to this belief?
Secondarily, pray. Ask God to show Himself to you.

Christianity certainly has a response to those realities. We can unite our sufferings to that of Jesus, and our suffering gains meaning.

If a dead body can’t be resurrected, where is Jesus’ body? 😉

Science is a good thing. It doesn’t contradict Catholic teaching.

What types of books have you read?

There was a study done

3 groups of people 1. Prayed 2. Didn’t pray
3. Control group.

No statistical differences between the groups=
Praying doesn’t work??? IDK.

That makes no sense. Take a bunch of non believer and put them in a room and expect magic.
No wonder nothing happened.
God doesn’t do magic tricks.
Belief is something more than waking up and saying OK I get it.

Prayer is more than just “Prayer goes in, xyz request comes out”
It’s about making a relationship… If you want to get to know someone, talk to them.

Books about evolution, Homo Sapiens, Does God exist, why God doesn’t exist, books on Catholicism, C.S. Lewis, tried the Bible. I have lots of books on the subject.
