I agree with this poster.i stand by my responses.
Unfortunately I dont think thats the case, given that the time she went over there this friend thanked her for sticking by her when most her other friends left her. And she also gave her several ways of trying to get in contact and even told her to stop by again if she needs to.How many times must an old friend say:
“Leave me alone. I don’t feel well.”
Do you understand that your wife posted this here?Unfortunately I dont think thats the case, given that the time she went over there this friend thanked her for sticking by her when most her other friends left her. I dont know why she would say those things if she didnt actually want to be friends.
Not sure I follow. On who’s part?Do you understand that your wife posted this here?
"Since then, we have been following this demented pattern of: Hang out, hang out again a week later, then I send texts, calls, emails, facebook messages, etc only to have them all ignored. I wait several months while texting intermittently until I blow up, go over to her house bang on the door and give her a piece on my mind."
Doesn’t really sound (to me) like a recipe for friendship.
Look, these are the words of your wife:Not sure I follow. On who’s part?
It certainly doesnt seem like her friend wants to be friends, thats for sure. Thats why my wife tried to get in contact to find out. Thats why she finally went over there to see if there was still a friendship there. Dont mistake “give her a piece of my mind” for yelling and screaming. That certinaly was not the intention or the case.
It sounds to me that this friend may be overwhelmed by this “demented” pattern. I’m a naturally introverted person who has experienced some depression over the years; an abundance of calls and messages in a time of depression would make me think “go away, leave me alone”. I also work in mental health. Depression and social anxiety are true illnesses that need time and proper treatment to heal. They may not heal completely. If the OP needs a break from this friend’s behavior, she does not have to tell her that. She should let things go and give her friend the space she may need.Do you understand that your wife posted this here?
