Need advice dealing with an online situation with an entertainment company

I remember when I first came on CAF, you were quite a prolific poster. I enjoyed your posts, your insight, and your humor, especially concerning dating and matters of the opposite sex.

And then, I didnt see much from you. I guess you were off working and playing games in the time you used to post.

We would love to have you back again. I agree with what 1ke and others said. The game and it’s company are not worth it, and neither is fighting it if it is bringing so much misery to your life anyway. It will never be what it was to you before.

Time to break up with them Chev, and find another.

Thank you. I guess I was spending too much time trying to help those people fix their stuff anyway. That was because I was always a history buff, and those war/economy games of theirs provided a more hands-on feel of that than, let’s say, reading a historical novel (not to mention a course book or academic work). But I guess that time’s over. I probably would be much happier putting time aside for books and films instead or in any case away from those people and their problems by posting in threads on their forums during my breaks or after work.

Well I’m glad you agree! It’s always nice to meet people willing to stick up for themselves, too many people now-a-days bend over and take what ever phallic corporate injustice comes their way.

Corporations and I go back a long way. (Although I do have a lot of respect for the good ones.)

I’ve worked for up to 60 hours without sleep if necessary, I even remember putting gloves on bleeding hands to be able to continue typing when there was a need, but normally I always take time to rest, to disengage, to escape some, which usually means doing something intellectually engaging (sport would be better but doesn’t work out well for a number of reasons) but other than my normal work, or any work, for that matter. Preferaly a good book, but I’ll take a good game over a bad book still. In any case, as far as charitable activities are concerned, my preference would always be to do my normal professional work for a Church-owned or otherwise charitable organization without pay (otherwise they’d need to be using amateurs for the job or divert priests with relevant skills, but that still would be half-pro more likely than anything else) or just take overtime and donate the money a Catholic charity.

Those are all noble charitable pursuits, but they won’t give you one on one time with people whose problems are bigger than your own. You said you wanted to stop feeling angry at the way you were treated, stop dreaming up revenge plots, etc. If you spend time with people who have much bigger problems then mean people on the internet, you won’t feel so bad about your problems anymore. It doesn’t have to be a soup kitchen. You could go to the local NICU and rock babies who are fighting for their life while their mothers are recovering from a placental abruption on another floor and have no one else to hold them. You could tutor homeless kids who don’t have anyone who can help with their homework. THere’s lots of options out there. If you put your energy into helping others who have real problems, you won’t even remember the internet jerks.

A negative review can be quite fair. Multiple reviews, written by one person, but purporting to come from multiple people are a LIE.

Just to clarify, Allegra, this isn’t really about hatching any revenge plots — unless escalating a bunch of formal internal complaints and perhaps getting press attention if that doesn’t work, in order to force the company to take a cold shower and reassess its policies now rather than keeling over later in consequence of its own stubbornness would count. I was talking about emotions first of all.

Sounds like it, though I have some commitments there. Obviously not to staff but to other guys, primarily the readers of what historical fiction stories I wrote. In itself, that’s probably not a very important matter objectively, but I’ve repeatedly promised them I’d take those to a natural end and not quit in the middle. Guess I could finish that off without participating in that place’s normal forums, though that would look like giving up and allowing those corporate bullies to win.

Update: With their ban expired, I finally got access to my inbox, and it turned out the same PR rep banned me who had previously trolled me and brought up his private conflict with me in public along with divulging stuff from my moderation-related PM to him. In my inbox was a very unprofessional personal-sounding one-liner with a provocative title, so I just simply used the standard report button on it and went back to the thread and reported his post for trolling, noting in the body of the report that yeah, I knew it was a staff member, but trolling was still trolling and bringing up private conflicts in public and divulging PM content certainly qualified. Already sent a formal complaint to their PR department as a customer rather than their forum member yesterday or the day before, so there’s bound to be some sort of internal reaction even if they don’t let me know of the outcome or lie about it.

I think chances are that particular guy is a young person who got forum admin privileges just for being a PR employee, which he didn’t know how to make proper use of. Anyway, I’m surprisingly calm and relaxed about this today, maybe because there’s little else I can do.

In the meantime, I’ve decided I must put some more effort in working out my work and free time balance (along with some more reasonable free time management).
