Have you ever tried duck? I’ve heard it’s quite tasty! Never tried any myself though, so I can’t say for sure 🤷
cooked duckling for Easter one year, I thought it would serve as many people as a same-size chicken. wrong, we each got a taste, and nobody warned me about the grease. a lot of work for a little bit of meat, and it has a gamey mouth feel, to me, the only place I eat it is at a chinese restaurant.

If any of you posters is interested in some fresh duck- you can come and kill your own (and have 4 eggs for later) right outside my garage door.

Any takers?

Try having some meat free nights. Bean and egg burritos, pizza margherita, brushcetta for dinner, eggplant parmesan. Yesterday I had a salad topped with brown rice and it was great. If you are sick of meat, then don’t eat it. (and I am NOT a vegetarian)
since DH is vegetarian that is how I used to cook most of the time, now that I cannot eat carbs at that level, it is more of a challenge, I actually do cook portabellos at least a couple of times a month, and have a bean and egg taco on maize most mornings for breakfast.

rattlesnake and alligator, tried them, no thanks

buffalo, actually do buy it when I run low on grass fed beef, depends on the supplier.

venison and bear, had a lot as a kid, didn’t like it then, don’t like it now (except sauerbraten).

I think I am just tired of cooking, if I could afford it I would do that meal delivery thing

I had alligator when I was in New Orleans… is this an option for you? How about rattlesnake?
You remind me of the time when Father Corapi was talking about the Army survival school. He tells the congregation: how many of you have eaten a snake…raw?

Seriously, though. I suggest venison. It’s also especially good in lasagna and spaghetti, believe it or not.

This thread is one that I can really relate to. I have this cousin in Texas that has started shipping me large quantities of smoked meats, starting with a huge box from New Braunfels with a smoked turkey, ham, lots and lots of sausage, bacon, and canadian bacon. He has sent a few such boxes from various smokehouses. The bizarre part is it is a cousin I haven’t seen in about 20 years. He is trying to get me to move out there. Just to be honest though, I am sooooo sick of meat now. All I want are veggies.

Frog’s legs? 😃
haven’t had those since I was a kid, we had them in Lent at least once a week because I think it is a Michigan thing, at least near lakes in N Oakland county. not a lot of meat on one of them either. I am squeamish about cooking “weird” stuff, which is probably why I stay in my comfort zone, which is probably why I am getting bored with it.

how about goat?
it has a little bit different flavor than the usuals

1.Squirrel–gamey but good.
2.Bear–texture of pork, tastes more like youngish beef.
3.(Since we were speaking of 😃 “youngish beef”): Veal.
4.Possum–Well, it sure is different. Greasy. But different.
5.Woodchuck/Groundhog-- Very nice white meat. Cook like chicken. Different enough, but not gamey. Just good.
6.Rabbit–Excellent. Makes good soups & stews, also great fried.
7.Venison–have never met a deer I wouldn’t eat.
8. Pheasant–can be caught by energetic cats. Tastes great.
9. Swan–have not personally tried, the Elizabethans had them as a delicacy.
10.Wild duck–prepared properly, terrific.
11.Elk-reportedly much like venison.
12.Shark steak–red meat. Strange, but not really fishy.
13.Head Cheese–first, behead your pig…OK, maybe not your top choice.
14.Goose–excellent roasted. Must prick skin well to facilitate drainage of fat.
15.Not-So-Wild-Duck–see notes on goose.
16.If all else fails, try:

here we call it cabrito, and find it chewy and greasy, when I finally got up nerve to try it, and don’t have the equipage to cook it myself. I actually did okay when the meat was just placed on my plate, but when I saw the carcass with the head still attached, I kind of lost it.

I don’t know if I can eat something “cute” if I knew it when it was still alive. Zooey, you wouldn’t . . would you?

another appetite suppressant: for some reason Jack in the Box elected to build next to the cattle auction. Hard to eat a burger when its mom is mooing next door.

Buffalo, venison, alligator, turtle, duck, goose, rattlesnake, sausage…hum, how about deer meat? Or you could just stick with chicken, beef, fish, pork, lamb chop, turkey, tuna, ham, ground beef.😃 I haven’t had alligator or goose (but I’ve had goose eggs), but everything else mentioned was good. I really like deer meat sloppy joe’s. yum
Actually there is no buffalo here in the US, it is bison (which I get and like) and dear is venison;). Saw frozen elk meat the other day at my local Sunflower Market. What about ostrich? Haven’t seen that anywhere recently but used to go to a “hamburger” joint that sold ostrich and bison burgers. I could get bison and ostrich at Wild Oats.

I really like portobello mushroom “burgers”. Those can be really good if spiced right. You can do bean burritos (just put on some Hatch green chile, mmm, mmm, good)

One nice thing about woodchucks is that they eat a lot of weedy things.

I am told that in some cultures, dogs are the main course.

Gday mate,
im not into it but some blokes here down under throw roo steaks on the barbie and some of you sheilas really like it.

Of course, anything goes better with Tabasco or with Melenda’s hot sauce.

😛

and I suppose the recipe is
“first, catch a roo”
They are flamein everywhere down under,
out the front door, step on his tail and the missus can wak um on the head with the fry’n pan. lol

Peace and blessings to you and yours,
seriously i don’t eat any animal with peds, the law of old prohibits it.

same as i urge people not to eat swine until they have prayed and prayed about it. Just because mum fed me pork chops don’t make it right.

the new testament i have has a section where Jesus (PBWH) speaks of what comes out of us making us unclean and what we eat passes to the sewer. My copy has an added com entry even in brackets saying this pronounces all things clean to eat.

For me when i read the section Jesus (PBWH) was trying to explain what we say and do is real important.

Jesus (PBWH) was sent by My Father to prove the law.
none of the law is to be wiped away until it has served purpose.

May God guide you as you submit to Him in the way of Jesus (PBWH)

We have Cornish Game Hens about once every two weeks. You can also stuff them with any type of stuffing you like. We love them. You sound like DH & I, we say the same thing about cooking the same thing over & over. In reality though one poster has it right when what the problem is is that we need to find different ways/recipes to cook Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Pork etc. I was getting tired of cooking the same veggies over & over so I started buying Spaghetti Squash & Butternut Squash, then I got tired of them:shrug: !
