don’t embarrass the rest of us Catholics with childish antics like that. if you need to vent, verbally abuse them, sic the dogs on them or hose 'em down when they’re on your property.

if I have to miss a minute of the NFL or NASCAR to deal with missionaries of any stripe (except Anglican) that’s what they get.
You know, there are a lot more problems that embarrass Catholics way more than what I did. Pope Francis himself even said that we need to preach the word more than we do.

Do you really think that justifies your behavior? We’ll just have to hope they’re mature enough to know that your rudeness and childishness does NOT represent Catholics in general.

What you really should do is apologize to them.

So if the devil tried to drag you into his religion and you were rude to him would you apologize?

If you stop and think about it, the devil is the real enemy; he sows confusion and deceit. People are just his victims. I’m sure in your heart you want those Mormons’ souls to be saved, too. 🙂

Oh yes Mormons are very nice people, I just don’t agree with their “recruiting” tactics.

Yes it was childish, but maybe their missionaries should have not heckled me when I told them numerous times to stop contacting me and wouldn’t take “No” for an answer.
 Have you ever heard of being the better person? You are definitely not the only person who has had a problem with Mormons bothering them. Several people on this thread has given you sound advice, that isn’t childish. Grow up.

One of them said to answer the door in my underwear and with a beer in my hand. There is something called sticking up for what you believe in, I am quite proud of myself I was not the push over today and did just that. Pope Francis would be proud.

My advice is to be more humble, i’m sure you’d agree that it would do both you and everyone else good.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (KJV, Matthew 5:5-9)

A fool always loses his temper, but a wise man holds it back. (NAS, Proverbs 29:11)

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. (NIV, James 1:19-20)

Ummm, no. Not all have given you good advice. I think you are just looking for the immature advice. I don’t think anyone would be proud of your actions today. Since you obviously haven’t looked at all of the thread you started here are the steps to take to stop Mormons from bothering you:
  1. Tell them that you aren’t interested
  2. Call their church and speak with someone about them bothering you.
  3. If they show up again, tell them the next time they come, you will call the police.
  4. If they do show up after you warned them, call the police.
Very simple steps and you won’t look like a jackass. 👍

Remember, treat people like YOU want to be treated. I doubt you would want Mormons coming into Mass heckling, would you?

Calling the police on Mormons is pretty jackass. I don’t want to get them in trouble, I just wanted them to stop bothering me.I stood up for myself and what do you know? They stopped

Well, I did know a guy–not a Catholic–who answered the door in his underwear. It’s not that he planned it that way; he just happened to be sitting around in his underwear when some missionary rang the doorbell. He was not the most tactful person to begin with. He just opened the door and said “WHAT?” They left and never came back.

I knew a priest who would discuss religion all anyone wanted, but he wouldn’t argue and trade verses. He would say, “well, if you want to argue religion, let’s both have a couple of beers and get acquainted first.”

And I get a mailing at least once a month from a local organization pushing Dianetics, aka Church of Scientology. Apprently it’s because I inadvertently accepted one of their books at a home show a decade ago. I toss it. Once, a few months back, someone actually called me. Said something like, “You’ve been getting our mailings for some time now!” I said, “Yes, and I always throw them away. Maybe you could quit sending them.” But I still get them like clockwork.

3 strikes and you are out. If I tell you to leave and not come back 3 times, after that the cops will be called. I believe it is better than showing up at a bible study for the sole purpose of being rude. I find it hard to believe that you know that they have stopped since you just did this today. I also pray that you learn manners, since it seems like you are lacking in that department.

Maybe the Spirit came through in something you said to them and a conversion began in the hearts of one of them. Who knows? Just keep trying to stand up for the truth in charity and good will, and believe that good things will happen. God is with us. And I always liked the line, “God and one are a majority!”

First of all, I really like starting out points saying “First of all”.

Secondly, I wouldn’t want to be in a church that espoused beliefs like my own and have someone stand up and give a contrary opinion that contradicted the beliefs of my church. I would consider that rude as would most people.

Peace be with you

btw, the beer, gun, dogs, etc., were all said in jest.

You are a rare Baptist!! And I’ve known quite a few and they didn’t hesitate to tell me how I believed as a Catholic! The problem is, they were wrong on every account but they wouldn’t believe me when I tried to tell them that!! God Bless, Memaw
