for me living together outside marriage is not a sin, it even helps us to know the person who we will be dealing with the rest of our lives… some may say its immoral but in my own opinion (only) its not that bad after all,
i happen to disagree, because our human bodies are not like food sold in supermarket, whereby we can ‘taste’ before we ‘buy’.

by going ahead with this concept, what if you found the person you’re living with ‘not as compatible’? its twice easeir to give in to temptation and break up, rather than trying one’s best to resolve the issue. the bind in marriage forces people to not ‘break up’ so easily because of the hassles, but without that binding, most people would just break up easily cos its easier to say “this dun work, find another”. living together for ‘trials’ are actually very similar to the concept of ‘polygamy’ almost. but then again, most people also think getting a divorce is convenient, so cohabitating is really not a solution. the mindset of people must change.

If that’s the case… What did Jesus say about taking oaths? Also, what did he say about those who “are given in marriage?” The pagan marriage ritual is different from taking a wife. Marriage is a signed contract under the jurisdiction of “Caesar” which would follow Christ’s teachings of “render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God that which is God’s.” If the bond between a man and a woman were a union truely recognized by God then a human being wouldn’t need to mediate it. The man and woman should recongize in their hearts and live a holy life under the mediation of the Holy Spirit. No contract should be signed nor fee paid because the fee paid bears the face of “Caesar.” Heaven forbid the modern man should have to expand his conciousness, step out of the illusion of blissfull ignorance, and do what hasn’t been done since the eating of the “apple”… Evolve
Satan’s only weapon against us is our own ignorance, which we bring upon ourselves by believing anything and everything that a guy in a position of “power” spits out of his mouth.
To the O.P. and anyone trying to discern what is morally wrong and morally right. The path to hell is straight and wide because it is a path made for the masses of sheeple who are too lazy to find God for themselves. They go with the flow and do what they are told. The path to Heaven is narrow and few find it because it is a path made for ONE. It is a path made for you as an individual.
If you desire to live together and there is no conviction in your heart, then why should you follow the masses of sheeple on the path to destruction? Only you can prevent forest fires lol.

Living together greatly increases the chance of divorce in the future. We still actually don’t know why, there are just theory’s. I think this enough it reason why it’s wrong to live together before marriage. they are just setting themselves up for a probably divorce.

My fiance and I have always felt it would be wrong to live together before we are married. Problem is we would still stay the night at each other’s places and pretend like we were not living together. After we got engaged it suddenly hit me with the weight of guilt that I am fooling myself and I still have a chance in this time before we get married to refrain from cohabiting and physical intimacy.

I have been recording my failings and successes in a blog and would be very grateful to have feedback!🙂 here is the link if you are interested:

Hi,

Some of my non-Catholic friends live with their boyfriends and have bought houses together. Clearly, there is also the clear inference that they are having sexual relations.

Of course, they all say there is nothing wrong with this. Where is the harm in two people who love each other living together? Who are you to judge this is wrong? It’s not hurting anything - how could it be possibly be wrong? Society has moved on and so should you etc.

Can you please help me with reasons why this is gravely sinful?

Also, how do I counter the argument with people who are living together but not having sexual relations?

How about—this is none of your business:mad:
You’re a grown individual and can make your own choices, so tell them to keep their noses out of your business. Remind them that tolerance is a too way street, you’ll tolerate them sleeping around if they tolerate you keeping your faith.
Yes, that’s what they said in the late 1960s. “Leave us alone! Mind your own business! We’re responsible adults!”

And everything gradually slid downhill from there. Families and parents are the bedrock of society. If you disturb the proper order then there will be consequences. Not just for the couple but society in general.
