WOW! If I could be assured that this would happen if anything came back at me for utilizing union support, I’d definitely go to the union. I do not believe our union has any real authority in our district, however.
If you are at the point where you are going to look for another job anyway, what do you have to lose? At least you will have documentation that the boss was creating a “hostile work environment.”
Yes, I am in good standing with the union. I have been very hesitant to go to them, however, because of the backlash I am afraid might occur when they are not there. Principals have so many fun ways to make life extremely difficult. However, I should probably do whatever is the right thing to do to protect innocents.
The union rep will not doing anything on your behalf unless you ask them to. Even if you just go to find out what the policies and what your options are, it would be worth it.
