Need help with perpetual Virgin?

Imagine this scenario. You have gone to a protestant denomination since you were a child. You went to Bible school where you were taught the protestant version of what Catholicism is. You then come here thinking that Catholics don’t know scripture and that you know what Catholicism is all about and find out just the opposite. Forums like this are exposing the 500 year old protestant lies about Catholics and Catholicism because protestants are, for the first time, learning that what they were taught by their minister or who ever taught them in Bible school was wrong. Time to regroup maybe?

As someone who was in Protestant denoms, little imagination is needed:D

It was interesting, I knew nothing about Catholic teachings, but when people found out I was a baptized (not raised) Catholic, they were constantly asking and telling me what Catholics believed. I finally got a Catechism just so I wouldn’t sound/feel so stupid constantly saying I don’t know.

Much to my surprise everything I looked up that people said Catholics believed was either wrong and not what the CAtholic Church actually taught (or was supposed to teach) or completely biblical. That’s what you get when every time you read the bible you start off by asking the Holy Spirit to lead you to all Truth:thumbsup:

For all persons who do not believe that The Blessed Virgin Mary is perpetually virgin are not Catholics in the formal sense of the word. This is not open to negotiation as to whether Catholics may believe it or not they must believe it. To not believe this or any article of faith is heresy and ipso facto excommunication. So when someone choses that they do not need to accept the churches teaching on birth control or condoms or fetal stem cell research they stop being Catholic. Much of our faith is beyond the understanding of most people and the vast majority beyond the understanding of humans. That is why we call many elements of our faith mysteries. Not that they are not reasonable but they can be reasoned to be true but also have additional meanings that transcend our finite minds.

For example God created the universe by an action of His Will. We cannot create anything by our will but for God it was not even a demonstration of power it was and is very simple for Him. The entire universe, is not a speck in a universe in comparison to God.
