I had a question about bringing my wife to the Planned Parenthood rape and crisis center. We have been through several therapists, and she is getting really disappointed with the whole process. My mother is an adjunct professor at a school in the city nearby. She has a student who also went through sexual abuse her whole life, and she recommended this place said it was the best. I am totally pro life and against everything Planned Parenthood stands for. I want help for my wife though, and we need help. So I don’t know how to proceed, what is everyone’s thoughts on this? I know how integrated abortion is in society today, but that doesn’t make it right. Also I don’t want to give money to that organization, but this is a free service. I appreciate everyone’s comments.

Catholic Social Services can provide many kinds of services, hopefully your wife would find something there for help. There is no way that I could ever step foot in anything that Planned Parenthood provided and feel right about myself as a Catholic. However, you have to make these decisions yourself so I will pray for the guidance you need in this matter.

Services in our area is pretty slim, and I never contacted them. This was recommended to us from someone that has been through it. I found a catholic therapist and we tried that from the catholic search engine on the internet. He was not very good, because he was more worried about money than anything. I was thinking about it, and I might sprinkle holy water on the ground outside the door. Also we will be saying rosaries making sure the moms that go there change their mind. This is a very slippery subject and I would appreciate everyone’s prayers as well.

If it were me and my wife, I would continue our journey in finding solutions outside Planned Parenthood. I could not go to an organization that lies, scams uninformed single mothers and kills children.

I agree! Planned Parenthood is the devils workshop! 👍

It’s not in the planned parenthood building though. It’s right next to it.

Your question reminded me of Jesus’s advice in Matthew 7:17-20. Given what PP stands for, can it possibly bear good fruit? It is essential that the professional helping your wife have a solid Catholic foundation. This is the moral core of the “good tree” whose guidance and expertise will then bear “good fruit” and truly help her heal. An immoral “bad tree” , no matter how well-recommended, will not be able to help, and may make things worse. Beginnng spiritual direction while she looks could be of great help to her and might lead her to an experienced Catholic therapist. I suggest that you ask your pastor if he does spiritual direction, or could recommend a priest who does. (Catholic Charities is also a great resource and has a sliding fee scale.)

+ You’re in my prayers…

17Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Thank you, I didn’t want to go there anyway.

Any program run by Planned Parenthood is paid for with the blood of innocent children. Do you really want to be in the presence of such evil?

As a Catholic woman, I’d rather rely on private prayer and the passage of time for healing than accept anything PP had to offer. And I say that as a nurse who is fully aware of how serious mental illness and PTSD are.

I will pray that you find an acceptable solution that does not include the services of an abortion mill. Legitimate help is out there. Keep looking, but if your wife is rejecting therapist after therapist, consider that it’s not that she keeps having bad luck.

No I don’t want to be, and I just cancelled the appointment. I want to get my wife help but I as a God fearing man could never have my wife subjected to more evil.

I’m glad you cancelled the appointment.

I will pray for your wife. It is my experience that God sends us help when we need it. Please don’t lose hope and keep praying. You will find the right person to help you.

If you are uncomfortable then by all means don’t go. If you cannot feel good in you faith by all means don’t go. If you have limited resources and feel okay passing up a potentially good one and you feel 100% okay with that by all means don’t go. Wishing you all the best.

Planned Parenthood is not potentially good in any way. That organization was started by an evil, evil woman who was a virulent racist and eugenicist whom Hitler admired. Every year, Planned Parenthood awards the Margaret Sanger prize to the person who has been the biggest advocate for abortion. Hillary Clinton won it a few years ago. They make me sick and angry, and they help NO ONE.

If Planned Parenthood is the devil’s workshop and yet it’s the only place that this person can get the help they need, then… boy, I don’t know what that says about God.

I would travel 150 miles some where else before I would step (if ever) in Planned Parenthood. The way that organization operates and preys on uninformed and stressful mothers just infuriates me. I can’t see how anything good could come from PP when there are are other resources to be utilized.

If your wife is not doing well after something that traumatic get her help wherever you can. Suicide is not uncommon amongst rape victims, especially when they don’t get the help they need. It’s a free service, it’s close to home, and it could save her life, and if even if she isn’t suicidal it could help her function again.

I’m not an advocate of abortion, I would never have one but they provide other services free or at reduced costs that serve a lot of people who don’t otherwise have access. Like I said in my first response if the OP can’t bring himself to go then he shouldn’t and I pray that they find the help they so desperately need at a place that meets his faith values and comfort zone. I do wonder if the wife is also uncomfortable or just the OP. I’m not advocating that his strong feelings not be taken into consideration but just a question.

This is something to be considered IMO
