I need passages that show that faith can be weak.
I need passages that show that faith grows.
THANK YOU!!!
Hi Jim,
I hope these verses help some: (From the Douay-Rheims Version)
Minister your faith:
2Pe 1:5 And you, employing all care,
minister in your faith, virtue: And in virtue, knowledge: 6 And in knowledge, abstinence: and in abstinence, patience: and in patience, godliness: 7 And in godliness, love of brotherhood: and in love of brotherhood, charity. 8 For if these things be with you and abound, they will make you to be neither empty nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Without effort (prayer, virtue, piety, knowledge…) our faith weakens and we can be fooled or even fall away:
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit manifestly saith that in the last times some
shall depart from the faith, giving heed to spirits of error and doctrines of devils,
2Ti 2:18 Who have erred from the truth, saying that the resurrection is past already, and have ***subverted the faith of some. ***
Your faith must be held firm and guarded:
Heb 10:23 Let us
hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering (for he is faithful that hath promised):
2Ti 4:7 I have fought a good fight: I have finished my course: ***I have kept the faith. ***
These are a few, there are more I could offer, but I thought these would make the point without getting too long in a post. I hope and pray this is what you were looking for.
With love,
George
