Axion,
Painting it all with a wide brush in not very productive. Yes, there are those who call themselves pagan and use it as an excuse to live a wild life, but that does not mean that that is what all pagans are about.
There are thousands of traditions that fall under the catch all term “pagan” Many are very old, worthy and valid religions under any sense of the term. They have scripture, ethics, and require much of their participants.
All groups would fall flat on their face if they were judged by their worst participants.
Paganism is a word that is currently used willy nilly to describe anyone who follows a spiritual path that is not Xian, Jewish, Hindu, Islam or Buddhist. It is not an organized group, and to lump all the millions of people together under that term and paint them evil is wrong and shortsighted.
The variety of beliefs and practices encompassed by all these people is immense. Again, pagan is not equivalent to occult. Many Catholics pray to their guardian angel for guidance, yet when a non-Catholic does a similar thing, do you automatically assume they are speaking to a demon? Why?
Many so called “pagans” have nothing to do with occult, or magic, or demons, or spirits. Many have come to their spiritual path through means other than the rejection of God, Christ and the demands of their religion. Not everything and everyone lives their lives in reference to the Catholic Faith.
I am not attempting to convert you to anything other than thoughtfullness. And, I too will pray for you.
