Nervous Breakdown of Boyfriend

Praying for him

Lord, Jesus Christ, You have willed that St. Dymphna should be invoked by thousands of clients as the patroness of nervous and mental disease and have brought it about her interest in these patients should be an inspiration to and an ideal of charity throughout the world. Grant that, through the prayers of this youthful martyr of purity those who suffer from nervous and mental illness everywhere on earth may be helped and consoled. I recommend to You in particular

Be pleased to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna and of Your Blessed Mother . Give those whom I recommend the patience to bear with their affliction and resignation to do Your divine will. Give them the consolidation they need and especially the cure they so much desire, if it be Your will. Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

I am using the prayers to this little Saint for my boyfriend now. Thank you for continued prayer for his mental state as he fights them tooth and nail most of the time,is losing privileges left and right but his personality is starting to surface again. He has bad night sweats and nightmares.[/SIZ:( I’m becoming depressed. My only day to see him is on Sundays ,so that’s all I look forward to.😦 E]

Kayleigh ~ I am praying for Ryker and you. It is going to be hard for Ryker and you as this is a very serious illness. I am going to PM you with some information that may help you to understand his illness a little better. God bless you both.

I’m so sorry for what you and your bf are going through. How beautiful, your relationship sounds–and your relationship with the Lord. I will keep you both in my prayers.

Faith is such a gift. Where would you both be right now with out your deep faith?
 
:gopray: Father God please be with Ryker, soften him and mold him. Help him to see that the folks at the hospital are there to help him. Convince him to follow the suggestions of the psych team. Mold him till he conforms. Continue to strengthen Ceili as she deals with being apart from her loved one. Hold these two in your arms Father, hold them tight. Bring comfort to them and peace of mind.

God bless you guys. Thank you.Thanks for the private messages and help dealing with this strange disorder that I can only try and learn more about. He has his rosary’s and he does get to recieve communion on Sunday. I keep this forum of prayer warriors in my prayers so whatever is going on with each may God be there.
 
My Boyfriend-Ryker has a hearing on the 13th of Feb with a team of health prof and family members,me and a social worker. They may decide to have him do out patient. He was diagnosed Paranoid Schizophrenic. I saw him yesterday for a longer time than usual. He is dellusional at times and other moments seems to be himself. I do want him to be out but then other things bother me. He stated there was still time for him to bike and train for the Tour deFrance. I giggled and he did not. I saw an odd uncertainty in my boyfriends eyes. I am praying for a miracle of mental healing.He has gone downhill fast since December. I am quite upset this morning but try and keep positive He is so drugged at times,nobody can reach him, Prayers for his mom and dad too. They are heartbroken.2nd son now with Schizophrenia. Just unreal for them as Ryker they believed was very intelligent and sensitive,never saw this. I think I have seen it coming and I look back to us in our teens and I think now it was there.I need to learn more.I am not equipped to care for him like I hope.

This is a serious and life-long affliction and I am so sorry it has struck someone you care for so deeply. But I also hope you are able to realistically assess your boyfriend’s potental abilities and limitations as a partner in the future. His psychiatric condition will profoundly affect his capacity to function in a responsible, predictable and interactive manner with a girlfriend/spouse/children. I wish you strength, wisdom, peace and healing for your undoubtedly broken heart as you move through this painful process.
 
I am so sorry to hear how things are going. It is good that he has a diagnosis; they will be able to create a wellness maintenance plan for him. As always you and Ryker are in my prayers.

I have a mental illness an am on disability and am very capable of sub-staining a 13 year marriage and raising 3 kids. I serve my Lord just like any other person. I have my good days and my bad days but I have a life that is full. Don’t count someone out just because they have a disability. It is short sighted and not very Christlike.
 
Realistic assessment and counting someone out are two very different things. And a reasoned conclusion that the OP and her boyfriend may no longer have a future as a couple, **IF **that is her decision, is not ‘counting him out’ or uncharitable or un Christ-like. Rather it may be the most responsible reaction to a very painful situation that exceeds the OP’s best intentions and ability to compensate for or adjust to her boyfriend’s profound impairment.

Ceili: Praying very hard for you and Ryker. You need to be very careful here. My neice’s husband has been diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic and she recently filed for divorce. My neice and her two you children are very frightened of him. She didn’t want to do this but they are very scared. Please be careful, this is such a sorry situation, God help you both!
