I was with someone of a long time, but I could not commit to him, he was not such a nice person and my feelings were not what they should be to marry. I have found someone now but not sure if we can get married as he if C of V and has been married before.

Hope it’s okay to ask, what is C of V?

Strangely he asked me out not long ago today. A sign? we’ll see.
Great let him take the lead. There’s nothing wrong with helping him along a bit just don’t get stuck doing all the work. That’s the mistake I always used to make. Be available but not too available. Be scarce but sweet as a male friend once told me.

Thanks I think things will be better. Unfortunately it looks like the event will be cancelled today due to rain but there’s always another time and him asking me is a sign.
Maybe just do lunch or coffee…keep it low pressue.

Next time I see him I am going to mention taking a walk to the ice cream parlor. He is a good guy though he has issues.

Never married. Never will. No kids. Age 44. I was with a man for five years who was the love of my life. He committed suicide. I have given up. My cat is my baby.

:o

Never married here at 42. I had (and still have)plenty of men interested in me but for some reason none were the one to me. It’s not like I am super picky, but I refuse to settle on things that repulse me (like men who have kids and an ex wife or baby mama)and it seems more of them than more like me.
AMEN! 👍

I have never lost someone through suicide, so I am not certain I can truly comprehend your pain. I am sorry for your loss. You may have given up, but God has not given up on you.

Great thread! I’ve never been married not sure what god has planned for me 🙂 I’ll leave it all into his hands and not worried about it.

I’m not really making the money to be married and don’t figure I ever will. A local friend, who is a solid Catholic, would be best, so I don’t have to worry about a good friend having a bad marriage or wanting to watch movies with nudity or sex scenes (I admit to action and horror films as guilty, but not sinful, pleasures). One good friend moved to Texas years ago and two others practically became strangers, with the exception of a few hanging outs, for the most part after getting married. Meetup groups are too big and expensive and too few friend making sites are only for making a new friend or two locally. I’m an introvert, but not a recluse. 😦

I just wonder if consecrated singles, or those who don’t think they can live up to that commitment, but believe in Church teachings and confessing any serious violations of them, are all extroverts, because there’s no site for finding others also not outgoing or not likely getting married? I’m not as rough around the edges, in person, as on here. I try judging thoughts, only, and don’t get put out, while walking around, by those who might be gay or what not. As a private melancholic, I only complain about things that are just wrong, like garden variety liturgical abuse ((name removed by moderator)utting chatty talk, announcements or hand clapping for someone during the liturgy) and childish behavior of adults who were raised better at Mass (chatting during or after Mass or leaving early), and that includes what I do wrong. In person, I’m pretty cheery unless you get me started on those things.

How are you’ll doing in.

Count me in the list - never married, still not sure what God’s plan is for me.

I know this thread is a few months old but I have an update. So in November, the guy I mentioned, along with his mom and my parents all went to a concert. He was acting weird at the concert and I later found out he had been drinking. I later approached him asking when we were going to go out and he said “we are out now” but I then said I meant us alone. He then got weird and said he has too many issues to deal with now, such as his drinking problem, his mom being sick (she is 80) and dealing with business issues (he owns a business with his mom). He said right now is not a good time. I left it at that. However he talks about getting together but I assume he means in a platonic way. A few weeks later he invited all of us to his mom’s surprise 80th birthday party and when I came in he smiled and was telling me he wanted to introduce me to his family. His mom also told me she wanted to go to a ballet with me because she likes it and most people she knows do not. However, he has been drinking more and more. I’ve come to the conclusion he likes me, but just as a friend. He likes my parents too and always hugs them and tells them he is so happy we all came into his life. I am heartbroken he isn’t ready now (or ever) but not surprised since I can never find men who like me that I like. I do get that he doesn’t want any relationship for now because he wants to deal with his drinking. Is this forever or just now? no idea.

In January though at church I had some guy come up to me and offer to buy me incense. I said no and he looked disappointed. I have been seeing this guy when I attend church but I think he’s being friendly. Even if he’s interested (which I doubt)I’m not interested in him because he’s not my type. I don’t know anything about him, he could be married, or divorced with kids or something else. I am going to ask about him since it is a question wondering if he’s interested or just being friendly.

Anyway, I’ve given up on dating and am done looking. I tried online and all that seemed interested were perverts, men with kids and exes, much older men and young 20 something guys looking for cougars. The never married, Catholic childless men my age were all seeking younger. I’ve accepted that my destiny might to be alone and I accept it. However it breaks my heart to think this. When I get invited to weddings of much younger people (this happens a lot lately)I end up depressed for hours and cry. I don’t attend weddings anymore because of it and can’t handle talk about marriages without crying. A few months ago at my book club one woman was discussing her daughter’s wedding (her daughter of course being younger)and I burst into tears and left the room. I will admit this does test my faith wondering why God is hurting me, until I realize he must realize I’m not marriage material. That’s when I try to be strong knowing there are worse things than never marrying.

Still single here as well. I don’t even remember starting this thread so it’ must be old.

I pretty much gave up dating. Guys around my own age aren’t interested in me…not sure why I’m not clingy or have a poor self image I’m rather independent if anything. I put it down as their loss. I’ve seen lots of guys I was interested chase the model types only to crash and burn time after time. Such is life in any case I’ve been pretty much absorbed in the misfortunes of the moneypit house I bought. It’s calmed down a bit no major issus for a few months (fingers crossed) Now it’s just trying to recover from the financial mess it put me into trying to make necessary repairs…(terminites, roof leak, flooding…I could go on but won’t I think you get the idea…lol) Also my dad had a stroke and my job status was questionable to a time so other priorities kink of wiped dating off of the spectrum map for the foreseeable future.

My dad is fine by the way “Praise God” . I will say being single makes you a stronger person not because you want to be but because you have not choice it’s just you. There’s no one else to help or pick up the pieces if you fall apart so there’s no excuse to be weak or give in.

I forget your age but aren’t you around my age? I am 43. I ask because I am having that problem where the never married childless men seem not to be interested in me but want much younger. They claim it’s because of babies which I find stupid because after all age is no guarantee of fertility or lack of and I know many infertile younger women (and men). Besides if they were that desperate for a family why didn’t they look sooner? So I always call this as a lie just so they can try to get younger. Meanwhile for some reason I seem to attract even much younger men looking for a sugar mama or cougar or much older men. It’s why I gave up on dating sites.
