Good for you Maureen, for taking these steps and all your efforts to combat meaningless, gretuetous sexual encounters. I think you have the first piece of the puzzle in place already, these kinds of encounters are meaningless and will only leave you hurt, scared and perhaps with some major life changing consequences (unwed child? abortion? STD’s? These don’t just happen randomly after all!).Lutherlic - I have the CD set of TofB…with Christopher West. I LOVE it, and also in the “answers forum” here under “Chastity” there is some great advice. I have printed out “I want to start over, but I can’t give up sex. What should I do to get back on track?”
I read it once a week to help reinforce my efforts to behave.
I’ve also taken to praying to the blessed virgin before each mass to lead me to the wedding feast of the Lamb, to the Lords alter, to be made worthy of of my share in the feast. It’s also good to have some sacramental with you that you can reach for if you find some unwanted temptation trying to reach out for you. I have a sacrade heart metal, and have taken to wearing the scapular (as yet unblessed though, I’m also not officially enrolled or any such thing). Those are wonderful materials.
You have to really want to move away from sin more than wanting the false “benefits” it offers. Prayer, confession and the counsel of your priest are all important. I am a big fan of Eucharistic Adoration too. Go there (instead of a party that may lead to sex) and ask Our Lord for help.
Any reminder of what it is you truely want, is a good thing to have around. It’s really helpful when you have to make that choice
Option A)
The Lord.
Option B)
Temptation of any kind (say meaningless sex)?
