Lutherlic - I have the CD set of TofB…with Christopher West. I LOVE it, and also in the “answers forum” here under “Chastity” there is some great advice. I have printed out “I want to start over, but I can’t give up sex. What should I do to get back on track?”

I read it once a week to help reinforce my efforts to behave.
Good for you Maureen, for taking these steps and all your efforts to combat meaningless, gretuetous sexual encounters. I think you have the first piece of the puzzle in place already, these kinds of encounters are meaningless and will only leave you hurt, scared and perhaps with some major life changing consequences (unwed child? abortion? STD’s? These don’t just happen randomly after all!).
Those are wonderful materials.

You have to really want to move away from sin more than wanting the false “benefits” it offers. Prayer, confession and the counsel of your priest are all important. I am a big fan of Eucharistic Adoration too. Go there (instead of a party that may lead to sex) and ask Our Lord for help.
I’ve also taken to praying to the blessed virgin before each mass to lead me to the wedding feast of the Lamb, to the Lords alter, to be made worthy of of my share in the feast. It’s also good to have some sacramental with you that you can reach for if you find some unwanted temptation trying to reach out for you. I have a sacrade heart metal, and have taken to wearing the scapular (as yet unblessed though, I’m also not officially enrolled or any such thing).

Any reminder of what it is you truely want, is a good thing to have around. It’s really helpful when you have to make that choice

Option A)
The Lord.

Option B)
Temptation of any kind (say meaningless sex)?

My parish offers adoration on the 1st Saturday of the month and I have been going. I read the bible, I pray a rosary and then I just sit in quiet awe of the Lord and his ultimate sacrific out of love for us.

I am a married woman and I am working very hard to recommit to my marriage. At some point, I just kinda mentally checked out of my marriage and I am working my way back in. TofB is very powerful. The 1st time, I listened to it in the car while I was driving and had to pull over because I was in tears as the truth came crashing in on me. I was living a lie. I was allowing the Evil One to lead me away from the Lord. I was using sex as an escape, a way to hide. Now that I know that, it is much easier to make the right choices and to end the relationship - no matter how casual - with the ones who mean to use me for their own selfish pleasures.

I attended Mass on Monday with my son and his classmates. It was the weekly school liturgy. The priest has apparently been doing something with the kids that I was not aware of. He stood on the alter and said “God is good” and 300 kids replied back to him"All the time" he then said “All the time…” and again 300 voices replied back “God is good”. I really liked that.

God is good, All the time; All the time, God is good.

On a side note, I do plan on going to confession this weekend. This will be my 4th this year. I hadn’t been in 17yrs, so 4x in 1yr is great for me

Marueen,

4x in one year is a fantastic improvement! Keep making strides!
