Considering that is an opinion piece by a fringe contributor I’ll consider it an unreliable refutation of the CDC report.
Reading the article would help you to comprehend it.
Both critics and supporters of the CDC’s methodology note the striking disparity between CDC figures and the Justice Department’s crime statistics based on the National Crime Victimization Survey (which includes crimes unreported to the police).

These are not relevantly analagous: no one actually ever wants to have their house burned down in a fire. Women do usually and quite naturally desire to become pregnant someday.
Some women do. You said it yourself, “usually”. It is really that simple. There’s no reason to limit the options of what a minority of people want because a majority of people would not make that choice. You mentioned maturity earlier, and the first step in maturity is realizing that what others want may be different than what I want.
Sterillization removes that possibility.
Yes, and having a child removes the possibility of not having a child. Adults are faced with decisions that at times leave no opportunity for going back. Having a child and sterilization are just two such options.
Even if fire insurance and sterillization were analagous, notice that fire insurance doesn’t actually prevent you from ever burning down your house, should you actually want to.
If you don’t like that analogy, then how about an office that has a sprinkler system even if the chance of a fire is slim. Maybe a neighbor puts up a high fence to keep a neighbor’s new dog out even if that dog shows no sign or hopping that fence. Do you want a million more examples of preventative measures taken to avoid rare occurrences from happening?

Thought this might be an interesting food for thought topic that I came across quite by surprise this week.

Full disclosure I’m in that oft criticized Millennial generation, albeit at the oldest edges of it as are many of my acquaintances give or take a half dozen years or more on either side. And most are quite liberal in their views. However I came across a trend among several I wasn’t aware of until just this week. In light of the recent moves by several states to effectively ban abortion (since virtually all pregnancies, particularly unwanted ones, are not discovered until after 6 weeks), and States like Ohio going even further and trying to ban most birth control like IUDs and the Pill… that several acquaintances are electing to be sterilized lest they be forced to carry a baby against their will. No less than 5 in just the last 24 hours have made it known they have tubal ligations or vasectomies that have been recently performed or scheduled. The number who’ve been driven to this quite frankly shocked me.

Made me wonder what the response to that would be here that laws (which will almost certainly be struck down anyway) are driving people into surgeries to protect themselves from what they are expressing as our drive to dystopia.
In the first place, I don’t believe you know anyone electing for sterilization out of fear of forced pregnancy.

and after reading your original post, you post this:
On what grounds? No one is required to have children.
so you propose a false premise, then reject your own false premise a few posts later.

Loss of the ability to reason well.
(or bad trolling)

I did read it before passing my previous judgement. I stand by that.

Really.
Then you don’t know what the US Dept of Justice is?
Which is worse, saying you read it when you didn’t , or not knowing what the USDOJ is?

First, your doubt is neither charitable nor accurate. I’d post the conversations we’ve had about this matter but frankly that’s an invasion of their privacy (at least within the friend group) and none of your business as to the specificity of who they are.

Second, cherry picking comments out of context doesn’t help your point. Their fear of coming changes that would force their having a baby against their will in no way equates or relates to my second comment which is refuting the concept that all women want children.

Your proposition that women are sterilizing themselves out of fear of forced pregnancy is incredulous.
I don’t believe you.

And your posts are inconsistent. You propose an irrational fear among women, and then contradict yourself, rather directly.

Your words should be taken at face value, right?

And yet the truth. Now if you’re not going to engage the topic but instead personal attack I’d invite you to leave the thread.

And I just explained your lack of context but u are choosing to ignore that. So again not helpful.

No I dislike dishonest conversation and straw men which seems your only goal here.

Oh I’m well aware of the DOJ. I see you’re referring to an article linked from your original article. I’ve not read that one yet but will respond after reading that.

Like, the vast majority, yeah.
So what? Whether it’s 10%, 2%, or a fraction of 1% there’s no good reason to limit this choice that some wish to make. A very small number of people in the Middle East are Christian. Should their small number decide whether they should be allowed to practice their faith? Does it matter if it’s just 1 person?

That’s great. Take your time.

While you’re reading could you also post any reference that links increased sterilizations to a “fear of forced pregnancy”.

And reference to who is doing the forcing.
Etc…

Since as I said this is from 5 individuals I know in person, no I can’t provide you a link.

Outside of devout Catholics, sterilization is considered a normal part of life.

Millineal mans born between 1981-1996, if you are on the older edge, you are in your late 30’s. Add a dozen years on the other side of that and you have friends in late 40’s. To find out that 5 of those friends have or plan to have sterilizations is not shocking.

We Catholics who know that such mutilation is wrong of course would find it sad, but, it is a leap to see a connection between abortion restrictions and middle aged people deciding they are done with having kids.
States like Ohio going even further and trying to ban most birth control like IUDs and the Pill
Would you link me to the source that Ohio is trying to ban the Pill?

Banning private insurance coverage and banning the pill are VERY different things. The Pill is free from a county health clinic or $4 per month from WalMart. Not a ban, barely an inconvenience.
