No, my missal did not show up yet. Baronius have actually been great about it and really quick at responding to my enquiries - it’s DHL, the carrier that are the problem.

They say they attempted to deliver it to work but there was a road block (there wasn’t). They then tried to deliver again but forgot to actually bring it. They’ve now found it and it SHOULD be arriving tomorrow.

I can’t wait!

ARGH! I hope it arrives soon (I hate waiting 😉 ) - please let us know when the little treasure is there! You’ll be pleased with it, I think - it is quite lovely indeed. (it’ll involve a learning curve for me, but then, my NO missal did as well)

The only thing that surprised me was that it was a Sunday missal and not a daily missal - somehow, I didn’t realize that. But still, I am more than pleased!

Finally - the missal has arrived!

I must say I am very happy with it - it’s very well laid out and there are lots of additional prayers and information in there.

I will need to have a proper read later on, but needless to say, very happy so far!

It’s both Sunday and daily. After the section with the Ordinary of the Mass, it has the daily Masses for the Saints for the entire year. You might have to flip through it to find what you are looking for, but the daily Mass propers are there.

Yay - congratulations! 🙂

Thank you, I need to look more carefully, evidently. I found the Masses for the Saints, but I was trying to find something like my other missal has - for each day in Ordinary Time, there’s also separate first and second readings, Responsorial Psalm, Alleluia and Gospel reading for Year I and Year II. (I’ve figured out, at least, that it’s not called ‘Responsorial Psalm’, etc., in the 1962 missal, but I still have a lot to figure out. sheepish grin But that’s good - I need the occasional humbling reminder that I don’t know diddly!)

Actually, once you figure it out, it will be a lot easier. The readings are going to be the same every single year. There is no 2 year cycle for the daily Mass or 3 year cycle for the Sunday Mass. Also, there are only two readings (epistle or lesson and gospel) for all the Masses, even on Sunday. The Introit is from the Psalms.

That probably would have taken me a good while to figure out! laughing

Thank you, dear - you are always so helpful, bless your heart! http://bestsmileys.com/hugging/1.gif

I have BOTH the Baronius and Angelus Missals and to be perfectly honest I don’t worry about “who” they benefit financially. My first and foremost thought is how much good I am going to get out of it and how it benefits me while I am praying the Mass.

Maybe I better tell Sister Carmella that she better not use her Angelus missal…LOL j/k

Can someone post a reliable vendor’s URL to purchase the Missal?

OK! the question for you is:

Which one has the largest fonts?

My arms are not long enough anymore. I am really interested in the Latin text. The English can be useful for my son and my wife, but they have good eyes.

I am happy with my purchase of the Baronius Missal. I do not wish to support the SSPX by purchasing the “other” 1962 misssal. My opinion only.

“I am a loyal son of the Church,” to borrow the famous phrase of St. Teresa of Jesus, OCD.
What is the OTHER 1962 missal? I need to check mine and find out if I’ve committed a faux paux.😊

I am not a big fan of SSPX; however I think that you haven’t done anything improper if you bought it from the Angelus Press.

IMO…the Angelus missal is much easier to read…Latin *and *English. It is made with missal paper and is quite nice.

My missal is the New Roman Missal by Fr. F. X. Lasance and Fr. Francis Augustine Walsh, O.S.B. published by the Christian Book Club of America. It is an exact reprint of the 1945 edition.

Here is an informative comparison which helped me make up my mind for The Angelus Press missal. I was all about font size too. Column 1 in the linked chart is the Baronius, column 2 is Angelus Press. Here is the pertinent font point size info:

Ordinary, Latin: …Baronius (B)=11 pt ………Angelus Press (A)=11.5 pt

Ordinary, English: …B=11 pt ………A=11.5 pt

Propers, Latin: …B=6.8 pt ………A=8.5 pt

Propers, English: …B=8.5 pt ………A=9.5 pt

By raise of hands, who can read a 6.8 pt font? 😃 😃 😃
