There have been six new abuse claims filed against the Archdiocese of Portland.

Can the Archdiocese really be sued for the alleged actions of the nuns and the janitor? Wouldn’t they have to go after either the nuns themselves or their respective religious communities, since the archdiocese doesn’t necessarily provide full support for religious sisters?

In 2004, as part of the court approved bankruptcy proceeding, all claiments were to file claims before a particular date, like April of 2005 or something like that, or their case would not be heard. Seems to me that these people wanted to wait until the bankruptcy settlement was done before they filed. Now that it has been approved and all the cases settled they sue.

This is not about justice, it is about greed.

Doesn’t Bankruptcy cancel all debts and claims to that date?
