There’s a new Chick tract out, nothing anti-catholic as far as I saw. It is about a released converted prisoner who makes amends for his wrongdoings. I doubt the folks at Chick Publications realize he is doing a form of (gasp!) penance!

Why are we giving Jack Chick another 15 minutes?

There is already another thread about his tracts.

I don’t think any reasonable person takes his things seriously anymore.

Just my 2 cents

You’re right, nobody (=few people) does.

But does that mean we can’t have a laugh at his silliness? Lighten up.

Thanks for the information. I have to admit that Chick Publications hadn’t been something I was familiar with. Their statement of faith doesn’t seem too outlandish, if you can overlook the King James onlyism, but I take it you disagree with their statement, “Everyone loves Chick tracts!”

I have a few Chick tracts on Mormonism. The artwork does a good job of conveying a feeling of evil hate. I must say I like the artwork on Watchtower pamphlets much more.

Yeah; as a Catholic and not a “Chick Christian” I don’t agree with his beliefs but I sure enjoy his humor.

I always swing by the Chick site every so often; his tracts are howlers and are a form of guilty entertainment for me, especially if he touches on Catholics.

Good ole Jack Chick! I’m not so much want to keep him in the limelight, but it is good to keep half-an-eye on him. :banghead: Sometimes he is good for a sort-of-laugh and eye-rolling. :whacky::rolleyes:

I’m fine, really. His stuff is laughable, that’s a given.

Unfortunately, rather routinely, we get threads like this, and some poor soul laments and laments about how horrible they are. (You know, the whole drama queen thing)

That’s what I have a problem with.

I’m the OP for the other thread. There are some in the area that I live in that must agree with them or they wouldn’t have a display rack out at the restaurant where I saw them. I also posted pretty much what I said here on Facebook. I had two people who didn’t see anything wrong with them. One of the two owns a restaurant that I go to several times a week…hmmm let me make that…I used to go to several times a week. This is a case where he shouldn’t have said anything rather than offend me.

In my opinion, if a business chooses to sell, display, support Chick and his tracts, fine, that’s his business. Just like it is my choice to display a statue of BVM, St. Michael, and have pro Catholic tracts.

If someone does not like them, they don’t have to come in, or come back. There are several businesses I will not support for one reason or another, but I don’t demand to speak to the manager, or owner on my way out.

They made their choice, I make mine. It works both ways.

Yay! I’m not the only one who reads them for a laugh!

The one about the computer in the Vatican tracking all protestants is my fave.
Indeed. I have to assume that would mean that they are tracking dissident Catholics as well. If so, they sure are doing a lousy job.

I will say, though, that the Chick tracts aren’t merely expressions of faith–many of them are attacks against the faith of others, which is what most people object to. For example, there’s a little Asian restaurant we often order from that prominently displays a statue of the Budhha. I have no problem with it since it’s a simple expression of faith. If they started displaying anti-Catholic material, then I’d quit buying from them. It seems the only acceptable hate speech still allowed is against Catholics. I think we have to do something to show we don’t approve.

As to the tract the OP linked to, it certainly has its flaws, which I’ll not go into because it would be pointless, but I do appreciate the fact that a man is shown amending his life and making reparation for his wrongs. That is very commendable and is the kind of message Chick ought to stick to instead of attacking the faith of others.

You and I are not in disagreement here at all.

Your example of the Asian restaurant works both ways. If I started displaying anti-Buddhist material, I would expect them to stop buying from me.

Respect is a two way street.

All of Chick’s tracts have their flaws…😛

PS, As has been stated here, and on the other thread about these tracts. The Catholic Church is not his only target. It may be his biggest, but it isn’t his only.

People take this guy way too seriously.
