Word today is that our new coadjutor bishop is Bishop Nienstedt, currently bishop in New Ulm MN – I’ve not heard much about this bishop, except positive things from friends of mine in that diocese. But nothing earth-shaking (or parish shaking) one way or the other - his background is moral theology and seems to be focused on medical ethics, which is good to hear.

Anyone know anything else firsthand about him?

Keep him in your prayers - he’s inheriting a lot of problems!

It is official, as announcement has been posted on the St. Paul-Minneaplis Arch-diocesan website located: archspm.org

I grew up in the New Ulm diocese and have even been at an event or two where then/still(?) Bishop Nienstedt was present. A good man from what I have seen and heard from others still in the diocese.

Some database type information available here: catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/bnien.html

He will have enough challenges in front of him, so let us all say a prayer that the Holy Spirit fills him with courage, gentleness, fortitude, and joy.

In the spirit of the late Bishop Dudley, who often spoke of Romans 12:12:
“Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer.” (NAB)
