New English translation of Mass unveiled in Australia

The new English-language translation of the Roman Missal has been introduced in Australia, drawing a strong positive response.

“People are quietly appreciative,” said Cardinal George Pell of Sydney. One priest, delighted with his first experience using the new translation, was far more positive, telling The Australian:

The new text will have a transformative effect, invoking a strong sense of the sacred. It will make people think about Christ’s sacrifice as it is relived in every Mass.
The new translation, which hews more closely to the language of the Latin original, will be introduced in the US for the 1st Sunday of Advent.

This bit of news makes me look forward to this. I think it’s the most I’ve looked forward to the Christmas season since I was a little kid! Sounds like we all get a good present that no one will want to return!

The priest who celebrated Mass last Wednesday at Saint Marys Cathedral (Cardinal Pells See) used some parts of the new translation. There`s no doubt about its superiority!

Our priest is getting us ready and is giving us snippets at the end of the mass-it is like when I was a kid but in english-how wonderful.It really reinforces the majesty and solemnity .and absolute miracle that occurs at every mass.Thank God for this Pope.The Holy Spirit ensures we get precisely the right Pope for the times.

Now bring back communion rails,reception on the tongue and the paten under the chin!

Gee, mate, youre showing your age! i doubt that many of todays Australians even know the word.
Sadly, the most common spoken word in the language starts with the letter “f”. The worst offenders include teenage girls and young women.

It does contain the word “Behold”, though; and “blessed”, rather than that stupid word “happy”. (Did the Poms say “`appy”?)
