Well I gotta say, I have to at least give him credit for his optimism… even though I’m not sure I share it.

With God, we can do everything!!
Consider this: 1/6th of the world is already Catholic. If each Catholic prayed for just 5 other people, really worked at it through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, then the whole world would be converted!
Ahhh, you say, but not all Catholics are willkng to do that.
But if one-tenth of all Catholics prayed for 9 Catholics and 50 non-Catholics, the whole wolrd would still be prayed for!
So, yes, the Pope is right–if we pray, God will do the hard work. If we just sit around saying, oh, this is too hard! I’m not good at talking to people, and that sort of thing, then, yeah, it won’t happen.
