A New Hampshire state representative who supports Donald Trump referred to the pope as the “anti-Christ” in a Facebook post thread.

That comment came in a thread the same day, Feb. 18, that Pope Francis suggested that Trump’s desire to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico is “not Christian,” provoking a response from the Republican frontrunner.

Susan DeLemus, in the thread to a post on one of her favorite psalms was asked by a commenter if she saw the Pope’s comments.

The country, and perhaps the world, is cracking at the seams. People cannot even read what the Pope actually said. Amazing.

This is definitely how it seems.

A favorite mini-series of mine is the old BBC production of I, Claudius. In one episode, Claudius opines, “Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out.” There’s a whole lotta hatching going on these days.

Yes, seems that way. So much unclear thinking and so much sin and destruction everywhere we look.

If all it is, is a facebook post, that is wrong but I’d say petty, when we start talking about some rather unknown person’s facebook post but she is a Representative in NH.

Interestingly, she, DeLumis, was at an Anti-Planned Parenthood rally, making it appear she may be a pro-lifer. Here she is at the rally in NH.

Trump: Look to me.
Pope Francis: Look to Christ.
Trump: So good and honorable that he doesn’t need Gods forgiveness.
Pope Francis: Admits he is also a sinner in need of God’s forgiveness.
Trump: Hints at using nuclear weapons to fight terrorists
Pope Francis: Preaches peace
Trump: Says he can shoot people on streets of ny city and would not lose support
Pope Francis: Preaches peace.
Trump: Supports the death penalty
Pope Francis: Against the death penalty
Trump: Builds casinos and strip clubs
Pope Francis: Builds churches.

It’s true that in many protestant circles the Pope is considered the anti-Christ.
 
Let’s get real. Trump would not in any way endorse or allow this to be said regarding Holy Father Francis. This New Hampshire Representative is ignorant and insulting. IMO

A lot of Italian names begin with De; a bit of an ironic twist here. It makes me curious. Her last name is DeLemus. A lot of people get upset about something and say something very uncalled for.

I’ll take an *** over a sociopath or a socialist any day of the week.

As for the article. As others have said, that’s not an uncommon position in American Protestantism. Chalk it up to ignorance and pray for them.

And the history of the bad Popes gives fodder to them. I’ll tell you by experience that converting to the Catholic Church from protestantism is an uphill battle that can only won by the grace of God. Two major hurdles are our belief in Papal infallibility and devotion to Mary. That said, many protestants are wonderful people who are simply misled. Many of these notions are fed to them by their shepherds. They don’t just come up with these by themselves.

I wouldn’t put much weight on it. There are 400 people in the NH HOR in a state that has 500,000 residents. It is easier to become a NH State Rep than it is to run for student government at most colleges.

It isn’t a full time job. It is either volunteer or receives just a pittance for a stipend. You have farmers and shoe salespeople holding office, not that there is anything wrong with those professions. The people holding office are just regular people.

I’m sure a lot of them are intelligent, but many of them probably aren’t.
