New idea, unwelcoming

I guess that’s it, the parish council thought it wasn’t hip enough…
But they agreed to the idea.

It was the presenter that got the wrong idea.

So maybe we should be saying something like, “Dang Millennials, so touchy, so easily offended. Grow up already.”

In de-cluttering, CDs are something that simply took up space. All of our music is converted to digital (except for my vinyl collection).

The CD players we had did require power 🙂
My phone, Kindle, etc all have long battery life. Small bluetooth speaker or headphones for private listning and I can carry the world of music in my purse.

I have both wired ear buds and bluetooth headphones. The headphones will play music for more than 8 hours before they need charged, in standby they last much longer.

I can charge my battery at any electric outlet, in my car, via a lipstick power bank and I have a backup solar charger.

All digital music/content is stored in the cloud, backed up on a flash card and also stored on device(s). After years I have never lost one bit of content.

I am a convert. The very best, single most important thing that has ever happened in my life.

There are clubs that one can join, some you join voluntarily, others, you must be invited. It is MY and YOUR birthright, to be a Catholic. This invitation comes at the behest of, and through the graces from, Jesus Christ. No committee, group, or earthly force can revoke, remove or diminish that belonging. This goes for someone presenting good ideas or bad, good manners or bad, on and on.

It is one of the few places, you truly need not care what the neighbors think!😉

I do streaming in order to de-clutter our family environment. Other people may like their CDs.

My point is, there are now adults who do not use old-fashioned media. I would not want this young man to be disappointed if CDs are only picked up by people with grey hair.

LOL, no, they come as small as a lipstick or as large as a old cassette tape case. You simply plug them in for a few hours. They hold the charge for a long time. We really are living in the “future” 🙂
A $10 solar charger works remarkably well.

I only had to ask my priest for permission to set up information for our local radio station. One thought about “so you’re not from here,” could he possibly have thought your friend was from the radio station and not a parish member? I’m not sure the priest should have put him in that position. And yes, Parish Councils can be intimidating, as are all “Boards” to newcomers. Our Council doesn’t render any decisions on presentations at the time they are presented. We discuss and then vote at the next meeting.

Assuming it is a respectable cloud companies, that “someone else’s warehouse” is not going down. Make you own local backup, by all means. I do, but that’s just because my laptops docking station still has a harddrive plugged in and it automatically backups. But know, those data warehouses have backups, distributed sites, etc down to an exact science.

As for music, I stream everything, just pay a monthly fee to Spotify. No concern about losing anything.

I haven’t worried about my iTunes library for years. It may be on my Apple cloud still, I don’t care. I just use a subscription service for music. Don’t own any of it. Much cheaper in the long run.

As to my critical data, it’s on my computer, backed up to a local hd, and the oneDrive cloud. The oneDrive I trust completely. The only problem I could have is if I let my MS360 subscription expire for an extended length of time. Not for sure what MS’s policy is in that case. But it would still be on my computer, and I really have no reason to let that expire accidentally, I am pretty dependent on MS Office.

I doubt seriously if I can manage data better than Microsoft.

Way too much thread drift, perhaps we should have a thread in a more appropriate sub forum. But I won’t have much time to respond the rest of the week.

It is against forum rules, sorry. I do things differently on computers than you. It happens.

I meant it was this type of thread drift was against forum rules. But to be honest, not really a topic I care to discuss. God Bless.
