In the previous edition of the missal, during the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the congregation would STAND just prior to the priest saying: “Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Father Almighty.”
In the current translation, the congregation has new instructions to STAND right before the response to this prayer. In other words, the congregation remains seated for the entirety of: “Pray, brethren…”
Well, that’s not my experience. I have yet to see someone other than myself remain seated until the proper time. My questions are these:

- Why was this change put in place?
- Why aren’t the clergy educating the laity about it?
