It does not sound hokey. In Spanish, we say:I think this is one case where “dynamic equivalency” may be beneficial; however, as you pointed out since we are participants of the Latin Rite - we need a more literal translation of the Mass to demonstrate consistency within all who participate in that rite. I think that is only logical; and that is why I submit to the authority of the Church - I don’t have to like everything – my point is that if I have an understanding of the reasons for the changes it will help me more easily, or even agree with, the changes and my submission to them. However, for me to say “my fault, my fault, my own grievous fault” will have a feeling of being “hokey”.

Funny how it took a non-native English speaker like Jorge Cardinal Medina (when he was CDWDS back in 2001) to find all of the holes in the current translation and call for a new translation.
