New movie about Our Lady of Fatima to be screened in major U.S. cities

San Francisco, Calif., Oct 1, 2009 / 06:39 am (CNA).- A new film about the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, based on the memoirs of visionary Sister Lucia and the accounts of thousands of eyewitnesses, will be holding pre-release screenings in at least seven major U.S. cities.
“The 13th Day” is the first major motion picture by directors Ian and Dominic Higgins. According to the film’s U.S. distributor Ignatius Press, their film tells the story of the Virgin Mary’s appearances to Lucia Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto.
Over a six month period in 1917, the Virgin Mary gave prophecies and warnings to children that included a harrowing vision of hell, the spread of communism and the attempted assassination of a Pope.
The film was shot on location in Portugal and in the United Kingdom. It has a cast of hundreds and three young Portuguese actors will play the roles of the young visionaries.

The movie’s website is at the13thdaymovie.com.

I have seen or heard anything in the united states about this movie so i cannot say too much of it as no one here knows anything about this. has it been releasedin the usa? y friends and church members here have not seen or heard about this movie anywhere here

We should all pray for a contemporary Fatima, as our Age seems to be slipping into darkness. Could you imagine the modern, nihilistc media scrambling to discredit and slander such an event. But truth sustains, despite the various forms of deception hurled against it. Our world needs a sign of God’s love, because sadly, faith is ebbing away and is being replaced by apathy. Unfortunately, apathy is no match for evil, which is always driven by dark passions.

IMHO, miracles don’t necessarily bring about belief in non-believers, or even in spiritually tepid persons. One need only look to the Bible for examples of it. In the wildrness the Jews did not cease to murmur against God even though He did so many wonders for them. When our Lord healed the 10 leppers, only one came back to Him. Methinks that for most people a miracle would be sort of like a freakshow attraction: initially causing awe out curiosity, but then quickly forgotten.

I know it’s going to be shown on Oct. 13, the 91st anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun, in a number of cities (maximusmg.com/catholicscreenings/13thday/events.asp). Other than that, I believe the company is trying the same marketing technique that was used by the film “Fireproof”.

Ignatius Press (which will make the DVD available on Dec. 1) is selling three different screening packages. They include a copy of the DVD for showing as well as a license for public and group viewing good for one year (so your church or group could sell tickets to see the show), as well as a number of copies of the DVD and tee shirts that can be sold or given away. This is how “Fireproof” became so popular: it was shown in churches and religious groups and built up enough word-of-mouth advertising that theaters started scheduling screenings.

I’m talking with my church about getting one of the packages so we can show it here.

You are absolutely right. I have my Faith and that is all I need, but there are so many who have lost their Faith and turned their back. Our country truly needs to return to its Faith in God and maybe we will once again be in his grace.

Dear Reply To Thread,

I reply to issues, questions or comments when I am motivated by the
spirit or whenever that spirit hits me.

It’s really the old physics formula of stimulus = reaction.

If there is no stimulus within me, there can be no reaction.

Simple as that.

That’s not to say I find issues or comments boring. Just the opposite.

But a lot of what is asked or questioned, I’ve already questioned and discussed
with priests for years, although I claim in NO WAY to now ‘know it all.’

Far, far, far from that.

Hope this answers your questions.
