Admittedly, the WSJ article is an opinion piece. You are entitled to yours as well. Yet Ted Kennedy received a “100% pro-choice” rating from NARAL, having been pro-life even up until 1971.Not fair to call it Kennedy dogma. Not all Kennedy’s were pro abortion.

Even in 1974, he was telling his constituents - and there is little that I know to prove that he was lying - that he believed that abortion should be banned because he believed life began at conception. Of course, there were some - like Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Sargent Shriver - who were good, solid pro-life liberals. Which was of course not that rare at the time (the father of California gun control was also, for example, one of the greates pro-life forces in that state prior to his retirement, and that was in the 90s). IIRC RFK was similarly minded, though given he died a year after the Blumenthal Act (may it live in infamy) was passed in his home state, we can’t know if he would have changed his mind, though as he seemed to take the faith far more seriously than Ted, I doubt it. Just because a theologian suggests something to a layman doesn’t make the layman convinced.
