Great - maybe we’ll see you there. We’re planning on visiting St. John’s and Front Royal the last weekend in October, which will include our wedding anniversary. I’ll try and get in touch with someone from the parish beforehand who knows the area. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
FYI, I don’t know if you’ll be in the area in the beginning of October also, but here is some info you might like:

Thanks for the info - but right now we only plan on visiting the last weekend in October. Your link just brought up a map of Bull Run; where did you find the info on the Catholic Heritage Festival?

Thanks for the info - but right now we only plan on visiting the last weekend in October. The info on the Heritage Festival looks interesting though. Its difficult for us to go places on the weekend now because my wife works in retail and usually has to work at least one day on the weekend.😦 Thanks for the info though.

I got it off the Arlington Diocese website: arlingtondiocese.org/ As of now, it’s only on the events calendar but there should be more info as it gets closer to the date. This is the second annual festival. Bull Run park is right off of I-66 in Fairfax County.

Just a follow-up for those who might be interested; We did visit Front Royal and St. John the Baptist Church the last weekend in October. We had a wonderful time. Went to Mass several times and each time it was great. Sunday they had twelve alter boys. Much of the Mass was in Latin, nobody in the congregation (which was packed) was dressed like a slob, lots of young couples with lots of children. When Mass was over, most people stayed in their pews to pray a while. People got up to leave after Mass quietly and orderly; The choir had a special event planned for All Saints Day which we couldn’t stay for, but we did sneak in for a visit and listen to them rehearse - really beautiful. After Mass on Saturday, we stopped in the local coffee shop down the street from the Church and met two other couples that go to St. John’s and exchanged information with them. We also stopped in the local Catholic bookstore down the street from the Church and a few doors down from the coffee shop; talked with the woman who owns the store who is also a member of St. John’s. Visited Christendom College also. The headquarters for Human Life International is next door to Christendom College, but we didn’t have time to visit them. All in all, a very rich Catholic culture in a very beautiful area of the country. Had dinner celebrating our 34th anniversary at Skyland on Skyline Drive. We were assured by the people we met that not everything is perfect though, but of course that would be true of anywhere. We were also told that a lot of people have moved to Front Royal specifically for the Church. We’ll probably still visit a couple of other parishes before we move, but Front Royal looks awfully good so far. Thanks to all of you who provided information and help.

Glad you liked it. 🙂 I heard a lot of great things about St. John’s. The Daily Grind is a very nice coffee shop (they moved from another area of the town). Lot’s of antique/thrift stores there too (we like to brouse those) and the food at Soul Mountain (across from the coffee shop) was great when we ate there. Good luck in your quest. Pax†

There is a Traditional Latin Mass church in Harrisburg, PA staffed by the FSSP that is in the diocese of Harrisburg. It provides all of the sacraments in the extraordinary form and has Mass daily and 2 on Sundays. The priest is about as good as you can get. The bishop just visited for the 3 year anniversary last month. www.hbglatinmass.com its about 90 mins from baltimore.
