Just a follow-up for those who might be interested; We did visit Front Royal and St. John the Baptist Church the last weekend in October. We had a wonderful time. Went to Mass several times and each time it was great. Sunday they had twelve alter boys. Much of the Mass was in Latin, nobody in the congregation (which was packed) was dressed like a slob, lots of young couples with lots of children. When Mass was over, most people stayed in their pews to pray a while. People got up to leave after Mass quietly and orderly; The choir had a special event planned for All Saints Day which we couldn’t stay for, but we did sneak in for a visit and listen to them rehearse - really beautiful. After Mass on Saturday, we stopped in the local coffee shop down the street from the Church and met two other couples that go to St. John’s and exchanged information with them. We also stopped in the local Catholic bookstore down the street from the Church and a few doors down from the coffee shop; talked with the woman who owns the store who is also a member of St. John’s. Visited Christendom College also. The headquarters for Human Life International is next door to Christendom College, but we didn’t have time to visit them. All in all, a very rich Catholic culture in a very beautiful area of the country. Had dinner celebrating our 34th anniversary at Skyland on Skyline Drive. We were assured by the people we met that not everything is perfect though, but of course that would be true of anywhere. We were also told that a lot of people have moved to Front Royal specifically for the Church. We’ll probably still visit a couple of other parishes before we move, but Front Royal looks awfully good so far. Thanks to all of you who provided information and help.
