Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad has been chosen as the 16th Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia:)

God Grant Him Many Years!.

AXIOS! God grant him many years!

I believe he is open to talks with the Vatican. This is a good sign for people who pray for an Orthodox Catholic reunification.

He had cordial relations with Cardinal Kasper when he was a Metropolitan.

Let’s hope and pray that he continues to do so now that he is the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia.

Many years to the new Patriarch!

God grant many happy and blessed years to the great lord and father Kyril, Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus’!

Hopefully they will meet and the Pope will visit Moscow! A unified Orthodox & Catholic Church will be a powerful witness to this world.
New Orthodox Church Head Has Reached Out to Vatican

Russian Orthodox Church interim leader Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad seen in Moscow’s Christ the Saviour Cathedral, 27 Jan. 2009

The new leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Kirill, has met with the pope and made optimistic comments about better ties with the Roman Catholic Church.
But Russian analysts say no one should expect a quick thaw in relations between the Roman and Russian churches.
The 62-year-old Metropolitan Kirill was born in St. Petersburg and was ordained a priest in 1969. He was appointed a metropolitan (bishop) in 1991.
His church duties included a long stint as head of foreign relations.
Metropolitan Kirill has spoken about the need for warmer relations with the Roman Catholic Church.
He met with Pope Benedict XVI in the Vatican in 2007.
But he has also made comments echoing those of his predecessor, Patriarch Alexei, who accused the Vatican of attempting to convert Russian Orthodox believers.

My the holy and pious and deeply ascetic and mystic brothers and sisters of the East, find it in them from Jesus to forgive Peter his many sins, and allow poor Peter to serve them as their supreme servant.
😦

As you Eastern types say “Many Years!”

“May we all be one soon!”

Vatican City, Jan 28, 2009 / 05:14 pm (CNA).- Following the general audience address today in the Paul VI Hall, Pope Benedict shared his happiness at hearing that Metropolitan Kirill was elected the new Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia. The Holy Father also said in a telegram to the patriarch-elect that he hopes full communion between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches can be achieved.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/catholicnewsagency/dailynews/~4/525744994

God has been listening to my prayer then 🙂

Long live the Patriarch. Long live Orthodoxy. Long live Catholicism.

What did Peter ever do to the Russian Church?
