With the recent elections of the new patriarchs of the Coptic and Chaldean Churches, and now the Pope of Rome’s announcement today, it looks like the first few months of 2013 are seeing 3 of 11 “patriarchs” of the Catholic Church replaced. Interesting times.
(Note: I consider the Pope, the six canonical Eastern patriarchs, and the four major archbishops to be the “patriarchs” of the Catholic Communion for all functional intents and purposes).
