New Poll: Do you think Homosexual Acts are Sinful?

This is not talking about homosexuals who are celibate for God, but it is speaking about committed homosexuals who are only procreating with 1 partner in a committed relationship.
How do they “procreate,” pray tell…

Also what the hell are “homosexual acts” I do not know of a single homosexual act that has not been committed by heterosexuals so it’s a phrase begging definition – the very hallmark of poor thinking and writing.

If you can’t be more careful of how you use language, particularly with these volatile issues that cause so much misunderstanding of Church teachings, I would suggest you take a back seat somewhere. We Catholics don’t need these kind of crude presentations and quite frankly I’m tired of seeing them. My apologies for my harshness but I suffer from having to defend my Church because of this.

Two readings I recommend:

And another that gets to the paradox at the heart of the Homosexualist cant:

I was wondering about the OP’s use of “procreate” as well. Perhaps “engage in homosexual activity” is what is/was meant. 🤷

Wow, hold on guys!

Whenever I have detailed any sort of sexual acts on this board even in tasteful language, the thread was frozen and deleted and I was warned. I left it as broad and open as possible. These acts can include passionate kissing or to all the acts that lead to a person being sexually pleasured.

This can also include lusts of the heart, where Jesus said adultery was already commited in our heart at these thoughts.

Sorry for the procreate language, please forgive me everyone, please please forgive me…

With all of the changes happening recently in the Episcopal and ELCA Lutheran churches regarding Homosexuality, I thought I would start a poll to determine the current state of the forum.

The ELCA and Episcopal churches are saying that a committed homosexual relationship where homosexuals of the same sex are committing fornication outside of Marriage or Holy Matrimony is not a sin according to the Bible or by God.
A very well designed poll! Congrats.

There are sizable minorities in the ELCA and Episcopal Churches who do not agree with their denomination’s stance. I am one who is always willing to listen, and indeed to actively explore the position of my Church, but I am not yet convinced that the argument can be made. The argument is unproven, and I suspect it will remain thus.

While there are good arguments pastorally for “inclusion”, they simply do not tip the scales when viewed in the light of scripture. I say this having been to two “gay wedding” receptions in 2008, and having a loving couple in my parish whom I am very fond of. Because of the sensitivities involved, I find it hard to talk to many people about this. I fear that too many in the ELCA and Episcopal Churches who are questioning are burying their heads and not discussing this openly.

Margin of error at this level is pretty high, but I am fascinated that 4 out of 53 RC respondents saw homosexual acts as not sinful. Since this is a website frequented by people with an overactive 😃 interest in religion, I would imagine that the RC population as a whole has a much higher percentage of people who see homosexual acts as not sinful.

Polling does not make good theology, of course, at least by itself…

One thing to consider as well are the Anglicans not in the US and Canada whose views are quite conservative in this regard.

Homosexual acts are sinful becuse it is sexual relations outside of the sacrament of marriage and does not allow for the creation of life.

If you go by the voting results of states who have attempted to legalize homosexual marriage, then you are *incorrect *in your assumption.
Quite the contrary.
Even in Kalifornia, the majority voted against such blatant anti-Christian, anti-Muslim, anti-Judaism practices.
In fact, it was banned in 3 states just in the last few years.

And, no matter the outcome, individual, and group mental gymnastics, and circular logic will never change the fact that it is a clear statement of scripture that homosexuality is a sin, no matter how you try and dice it up.

First,
Thanks for distinguishing that the position regarding homosexual clergy is an ELCA position. The LCMS is fully opposed to this disappointing decision by our Lutheran siblings.

I also want to express my belief that all sexual activity outside marriage is equally sinful.

I am a Catholic Christian and do believe it is sinful. It is gravely sinful.
I do believe all sexual activity outside of Marriage between a Man and a Woman is a sin.
👍👍

Exactly.
And, as has already been pointed out, this is not really a matter of opinion (although it is interesting to see what people are thinking). A grave sin is a grave sin.
Should anyone partake in any sexual activity knowing that the Church teaches that act is sinful (extramarital sex, masturbation, ‘gay’ sex, etc.) and does so with full consent of their will has committed a mortal sin and their eternal soul is in danger.
This is why I think that being a Catholic AND a homosexual is a very heavy cross to bear.

I am a Lutheran/Episcopal/Anglican and “DO NOT” think it is sinful
I am a Lutheran/Episcopal/Anglican and “DO” think it is sinful
I am an Orthodox Christian and “DO NOT” think it is sinful
I am an Orthodox Christian and “DO” think it is sinful
I am a Catholic Christian and “DO NOT” think it is sinful
I am a Catholic Christian and “DO” think it is sinful
I am an “Other” Protestant/Non-demominational Christian and “DO NOT” think it is sinful
I am an “Other” Protestant/Non-demominational Christian and “DO” think it is sinful
I am not a Christian and “DO NOT” think it is sinful/wrong/unnatural
I am not a Christian and “DO” think it is

I could not help but notice that you had to put “Christian” on to the Orthodox and Catholic titles but felt no need to identify Lutheran/Episcopal/Anglican as such. Just looks very strange when you consider that all are indeed “Christians”

Meant nothing by it Rick. They were just the first 2 questions I typed and forgot to go back and add Christian.
