I respectfully disagree. I think theyâre saying that they got it wrong the first time. 1+1 is always 2. It doesnât change over time. The old translation was plenty good enough before and it absolutely is good enough now.
I hate these changes and Iâm very upset about them. I want my old Mass back.
My poor wife has had to deal with quite a few rants about this.
But the Mas has not changed. The Mass did change in the 60âs and 70âs but this is not a change to the Mass as I posted in respond to you on another thread :
First of all The Mass has not changed so no one has Taken your Mass away.
Second and just a little bit snide here, imagine how a lot of people felt in the 60âs and 70âs when we really did get a whole new Mass.
Third the word to the Mass have not really changed as the Mass was written in Latin to begin with and the Latin has not been changed.
Fourth the English translation that we have had since the 70âs not incorrect, but was not completely true to the Latin and took the English speaking world out of unison with the rest of the world as Most all others were a more direct word for word translation.
Fifth there are some that use the English to translate into their native language and with the English not being a word for word it was further removing those form what the Latin said.
and my last point is found in the Creed the Latin reads
âVisibĂlium Ăłmnium et invisibĂlium.â
we used to say this as
" seen and unseen"
we now say
" visible and invisible."
seen and unseen is not the same as visible and invisible. From were I sit in my house house my car is unseen by me however it is not invisible. These little difference in wording are why the new translation had to be done.
lets look at when we used to say I am not worthy to receive you. to me it says I am not worthy to come forward to receive the Eucharist. While this is very true the prayer was a direct reference to the scripture were the Lord healed the servant of the Roman centurion. Matthew 8:8 âAnd the captain in answer said, Lord, I am not good enough for you to come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be made well.â I makes us look at it is by Christ word and command and our humbly asking that we are healed.
