You are actually rejecting Tradition. You know, the one about humble submission to the Pope and the Bishops. Your radicalism is a very short step from sedevacantism. You need to desist from the obsession with some “golden age” of the Church that never existed.
Not the “S” word sedevacantism 😛 really are we down to “you hurt my feelings you must be into sedevacantism” Stay focused stay on topic.

Our Lady blesses not only those who preach her Rosary, but she highly rewards all those who get others to say it by their example.

Alphonsus, King of Leon and Galicia, very much wanted all his servants to honor the Blessed Virgin by saying the Rosary. So he used to hang a large rosary on his belt and always wore it, but unfortunately never said it himself. Nevertheless his wearing it encouraged his courtiers to say the Rosary very devoutly.

One day the King fell seriously ill and when he was given up for dead he found himself, in a vision, before the judgment seat of Our Lord. Many devils were there accusing him of all the sins he had committed and Our Lord as Sovereign Judge was just about to condemn him to hell when Our Lady appeared to intercede for him. She called for a pair of scales and had his sins placed in one of the balances whereas she put the rosary that he had always worn on the other scale, together with all the Rosaries that had been said because of his example. It was found that the Rosaries weighed more than his sins.

Looking at him with great kindness Our Lady said: “As a reward for this little honor that you paid me in wearing my Rosary, I have obtained a great grace for you from my Son. Your life will be spared for a few more years. See that you spend these years wisely, and do penance.”

When the King regained consciousness he cried out: “Blessed be the Rosary of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, by which I have been delivered from eternal damnation!”

After he had recovered his health he spent the rest of his life in spreading devotion to the Holy Rosary and said it faithfully every day.

People who love the Blessed Virgin out to follow the example of King Alphonsus and that of the saints whom I have mentioned so that they too may win other souls for the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. They will then receive great graces on earth and eternal life later on. “They that explain me shall have life everlasting life.” [1] Ecclus. 24:31

I need a clarification; do you mean to tell me that converts cannot perform these functions? Or Just Scott Hahn?
No some could Mr Hahn’s influence has become insidious and his views are his view but are put out as Catholicism. His new tone in theology fits with the new rosary it’s all so new not traditional. In a religion of tradition that matters.

And this has what to do with discussing a document on the Rosary?

If you believe that only Apostles can discuss on a public Catholic forum possible problems with documents that have nothing to do with the infallible Magisterium, then what are you doing here on this forum in the first place and how dare you open your mouth on the subject matter pro or con at all? 🙂

I certainly hesitate to speak more than a little on these subjects. So if people cannot get off the ad hominem subject completely, I will respond to that much. Folks… can we stick to the subject matter and not try to ascribe false standards and requirements for people to speak at all, in attempts to crush viewpoints?

If you don’t have the tools you want to discuss the point don’t descend any to try to ‘win’. Let go of the emotion. Give the subject up to God.

“For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears”

Very true. Sigh. And so the worst happens, people are given what they want, instead of what they need.
I sincerely believe that this discussion has long ago deteriorated to the point where nothing good can be accomplished, and only the devil is enjoying what is being demonstrated here. Why not just give it a rest? I cringe when I picture satan deriving pleasure from the quarrels of those who should be united against him. Division is what he wants, and division is apparently what he is getting here.

I fear you have fallen into the trap of Marian excess. Though Mary is to be highly venerated, she is not the Saviour. I love my Mother deeply, but I remember the most important thing she said: “Do whatever He tells you”

Give me some concrete examples of this “new” tone please, and explain how they are not in line with Scripture or Tradition (note the capitals).

So I am a sedevacantist who worships Mary? I am done. I agree with Shin. The devil is enjoying this madness. So sad that the error in the Church has grown so bad that Catholics can’t even agree on What the rosary is anymore! I am done posting on this. The case has been made for the rosary with it’s 15 mysteries. God Help us.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Pray for us

I pray them, though I must admit I have never prayed the rosary before they were added. But I suspect even if I had, I would have gladly included the Luminous mysteries anyway. Like all the mysteries, they offer great fruit.

*Thank you Waiting for saying this. I believe this is what I have been so very inadequately trying to say. *

I think this is a good close. 🙂
I only meant to defend our Apostolic Church Leaders
Well see, this wasn’t meant to be on that level. You shouldn’t see discussion of possible problems with a document as an attack that you have to defend, by attacking.

Documents can have problems, the people who discuss out the problems are often the people most supportive and loving of the Church and those who issue the documents.

One Pope can disagree with another. Whoever is newest is not the one who is always right.

That’s Dr. Hahn. 😛

Perhaps I glossed over it as this thread has a great number of posts, but has there been any consensus about the origin of the rosary in the first place? I mean, unless you accept the untenable position that the rosary is part of public revelation and was bequeathed to man directly by God (or Mary) in its Joyful/Sorrowful/Glorious form, I really don’t see how it could not be within the purview of a pope to make such an addendum as the luminous mysteries.

Do we think the rosary was instituted by someone with more authority in these matters than the pope? If so, I’d be curious to find out who that person was and who their modern-day successor is!

*So, what level was it ment to be on then?

This has probably been discussed before, but, I want to know if any of the traditionalist Catholics here pray the Luminous Mysteries.

If this is a heated subject, I don’t want slander. I don’t know how volitile this subject is, but, I know this folder can get a bit passionate at times in regards to the love of God.
I do pray them.

Well lets see, the problem I have, is that I can’t understand what makes you think Christ doesn’t have a Mother he loves, just like you love your mother? And I love mine.

I think this is the point we should revert to at this time. And, the simple fact the Angels were sent down from God. Then greeted Her “Hail Mary”. And she has a Son, a SON and her SON is…GOD! And since she happened to be one at the Cross, and the Crucifiction, Nativity, and do we have to go on? ? The Crucifixtion is “The Event” of the New Testament. In case you missed the Entire story. Who was there? If your not grasping Our Lady. Luke starts of with the Anniciation…First Page… Maybe you have a different copy of the Bible?

So yes she gets all Respect all the time… 100% And the greeting would be Hail Mary.

God Bless, Gary

The Prayers to the Blessed Mother go way back. We had some great threads on that. Do a search on Promise’s of Our Lady. The Rosary as we Pray it today comes in the period of St Dominic. And his life in itself is a facinating Truth.
