New sea serpent claim
Sundberg and his team
Aftenposten
August 05, 2005

Monster hunter Jan-Ove Sundberg continues his search for proof of famous sea serpents and once again claims that he has evidence for the presence of Selma, the beast reputed to live in Norway’s Lake Seljord . . .

Sundberg and his team GUST (Global Underwater Search Team) told TV 2 Nettavisen Thursday that they had logged sonar readings of a large creature in the lake, which is in the middle of Telemark county.

“I have news today. We were just off Sanden Camping today, between noon and 2 p.m. We got two large objects on sonar, they were four to five meters (13-16.5 feet) long and this was no fish,” Sundberg told TV 2 Nettavisen.

“Afterwards we heard some very loud noises on the hydrophone. The sounds were so powerful that the our headphones banged and vibrated,” Sundberg said.

Sundberg has regularly visited Seljord in the summer to hunt for concrete proof that Norway’s Loch Ness monster exists, and claimed last year to have images of the creature, but the picture quality left much to be desired and convinced no one.

“If researchers are to be satisfied we have to catch it in our traps. Or we have to take photos or film that demonstrates it is an unknown animal. Half-bad pictures from long distance aren’t good enough,” Sundberg said.

The 58-year-old is now training a new generation of cryptozoologists how to run an expedition to find unconfirmed animals by holding courses in Sweden.
This year’s trip to Seljord is Sundberg’s sixth, and he believes he now knows where the serpent is most likely to appear.

Yes, thank you. If he catches that darn illusive creature, please have him send it on over to the Curmudgeons cave and we’ll fry it up for a CAF Friday Fish Fry – everyone invited!

As long as it does not taste too fishy, I will be there.😃

However, are not these “sea monsters” related to reptiles or amphibians? If so, maybe we should schedule it for another day.:hmmm:

Do you think the Bishops will give a dispensation like they do when St. Patrick’s day occurs on a Friday during Lent?

Better than them eating you!😃

Scratch that - why don’t we just solve all the problems and fry it up on Sunday after mass. This way, we don;t have to worry about the meat content and technicalities of such.

Actually, I believe it is the Feast of St. Joseph that there is a dispensation for. This happened in 2004. I never heard of one for St. Patrick (at least in the US. Maybe Ireland).

The existence of sea serpents is a supposition and not fact. 😛

Catholics. One day youse guys try to pack the Supreme Court with Catholics and the next day you want to BBQ sea monsters.

Why not give it a rest? Chill out for a while.

I’m afraid when we get 5 Catholics on the court, BBQ-ing sea monsters will be mandatory.

Or at least a civic duty.

No doubt, we can collectively come up with a Sea Monster Cook-off and generate some fabulous recipes. Maybe compile a cookbook and make this into a revenue stream for CAF?

I can only see good things happening from catching this darn critter 'n eating him. 😃

I look forward to Catholic Apologetics on the Church and Sea Monsters.

Heck it will probably be some crypto-Catholic Protestant like me who writes the first tract explaining the Catholic position on the subject.

Sounds like a stepping stone to stardom. Can I have your autograph?

Based on his amazing success rate?

5000 seagull eggs

9347 snickers bars

I would cut back on the gull eggs and toss in a few more snickers.

Just my opinion.

Darn! I just sold my seaplane and my quarry dreding equipment. Otherwise, I’d have loaned them to you when the sea monster was found so that you could make the cookies, but only if you shared them, of course!
