My dd and new sil have been married a month, and are now taking their last class before college graduation - public speaking. SIL suffers from social anxiety, and his worst fear is public speaking; tomorrow they give their second speech (first one went well) and his anxiety has reached near panic-attack levels. They are trying to get through to his physician to prescribe something to help him deal with this, as he was out of his medication, not having needed it lately.
He is a brilliant student, already accepted to grad school for '09-'10 all the way through to a Ph.D. program in speech pathology, should he so choose, but this one last class (which he attempted once before and dropped) is literally standing between him and a college degree and the rest of his life. DD is understandably very worried about him; she hates public speaking as well, but will get through it.
Please pray for this dear young man who has had very little understanding of his anxiety from his high-achieving parents. He simply MUST get through his speech tomorrow, and then two more.
If he doesn’t, his self-esteem will plummet and his anxiety levels will escalate. I am very worried about him.
Thank you.
