I’m curious if the stories of him and famous actors or actresses involved in drugs and other things is fabricated. As far as I know, he never mentions these people’s names (I understand for charity reasons, but it’s not so far-fetched to think it’s all a lie).
More are wondering about this too…

It’s opposite of Fulton Sheen’s anecdotes. He mentions individuals that recur in many of his talks, without naming names, but the stories overlap and are consistent and very detailed, and then when you read his bio, you hear about Bella, and start to match up the tales with those he encountered, the one Nun, Communist prisoners, that heartwrenching story where Sheen took the brunt of the hysterical woman, who had an abortion and freaked out on him “Let me out of here, I’ll never become a Catholic” only for Sheen to gently calm her down, and eventually hear her confession.
Another was specifically an actress, or young woman who he advised to be a missionary ( I think) He ended up converting, touching a lot of people under his counsel…I always heard he could converse with people from and high and low places.

Corapi on the other hand, people say their encounters with him he was self-absorbed or was half-listening .

Sheen would highlight the other people that touched him, in his personal encounters

Corapi would highlight himself more. Corapi’s tales of encounter, they’re not about the human heart, outside of his mother, but more stylistic and to impress, almost proud of how bad he was/and his past life and how he changed. Really, all you remember more is the stories centered around Corapi having such an sinful (yet adventuresome, flashy) life before he “found his way” rather than the friends he knew.
In one talk he even scolded, about people who approach him as they need more “humility” as he did not like being confronted, by some parishioners saying "Hey you be polite to me! " which wasn’t really about humility.

I personally, don’t believe the “rock star” anecdotes at all. Which rock band? Maybe some really D-list band or something… Nor do I believe the spells cast on a large amount of drugs/shipment or whatever. Because all he says “man the stuff I’ve seen, will give you the creeps!”

Note: And I’m not trying to knock Corapi so much by comparing him to Sheen. Rather using “good example” of past people, provides more perspective and see, why it is now easier to understand the fall-out we’re seeing now from the revelation of Corapi’s double life. It’s actually making it easier to digest and understand why the warning signs were there. When you look to other Catholic Religious who had fame, and success within the worldly life.

Just like Fr. Euteneur’s response last year to his sinful behavior on a lesser degree contrasts with Corapi.

The people on his FB page are insane, and I think it is dangerous to the Church for him to continue this charade. It attracts all the Catholic-bashers who are happy to have one more soldier to fight against Church authority! What can’t he see that? He is undoing all the good he has done through the years!

Who are these people, who are following him “onward,” and posting that they are with him no matter what???

They have made him into a golden calf.

Without Christ, this is just a house on sand. I bet in a month his support will have been eroded. God willing, he turn back and stop this charade…

Otherwise, he’ll just devolve into some sort of Glenn Beck.

Yep. That about sums it up. The ones on the “Father Corapi” FB page seem to be mostly calling for him to submit to authority from what I can tell today but the ones on the “BS-Dog” page are enabling his actions for the most part. The only consolation here is that there are 50 thousand “friends” on the Father Corapi page and only around 5 thousand on the BS-Dog page.

Please. This has nothing to do with Glenn Beck.

He thinks he’s in a civil case, it doesn’t make sense. Anyways he doesn’t matter to me anymore. Goodluck Corapi
Don’t totally abandon the Prodigal Son, Santos.

He needs our prayers now more than ever.

He is in deep denial and his statements today and general behavior are proof of that. Let’s hope he is able to get out of Satan’s grip and return to focusing on the Cross. 🙂

Sorry Juliane, I am just worried about people speculating about what he meant in his Blog about these two things. What does he mean broaden his horizons and using his gifts for MORE than what he has been doing now?
So, I’ll do what I can outside of the Church. I’m not leaving the Church. I am simply doing something else in life so that I won’t wither up and die, and so that you can still derive some benefit from my gifts from God. It may not be as good as before, **or it may be better. **

I can’t do what I can’t do. I can only do what I can do. I shall continue, black sheep that I am, to speak; and sheep dog that I am, to guard the sheep—this time around not just in the Church, but also in the entire world. I am, indeed, not ready to be extinguished. Under the name “The Black Sheep Dog,” I shall be with you through radio broadcasts and writing. My autobiography, “The Black Sheep Dog,” is almost ready for publication. My topics will be broader than in the past, and my audience likewise is apt to be broader. I’ll do what I can under the circumstances.

And here is a Catholic blogger who was cheering on his decision two weeks ago, or misguidedly was hopeful that Corapi become political.
His avatar is perfect for the role he intends to perform as a shepherd.
Now, until his suspension is lifted,** he is free from the Church’s prohibition on clerics participating in the political life of the nation.** Given his past outspoken criticism of the current slide of our government to become more and more like the socialist governments of Europe, I think that we can expect to hear The Black Sheep Dog speak out more openly on the burning issues we will face in the election year of 2012. I know from my own experience that God sometimes “writes straight with crooked lines” as the Portuguese put it, and so perhaps God is using this new (unwanted) freedom from ecclesiastical restraint to permit** The Black Sheep Dog to say some important things in the next 16 months on those burning issues.**
I believe that he is justified in not seeking to clear his name through a canonical process; at the present time such processes are very flawed in most dioceses. Rather I would like to believe that he intends to try to clear his name through the civil courts.

Thanks for reminding me of this quote. What in the world does he think that he is doing???

Megalomaniacal indeed -

This is not a man who is going to repent and surrender and be obedient. This is an ego walking around inside a human skin…at the least…

What he is doing right now reminds me so much of someone I know, unfortunately. The person is a narcissist, who is prone to paranoia and hostility when he feels unjustly treated in his personal or business life. He is very willing to take things to court, and has had quite a bit of success because he is so obnoxious that people will settle rather than drag on for years and be damaged by his rage and venom.

The paranoia of “it’s me against the world,” and “they are all out to get me,” is so familiar. I really believe Corapi is not in his right mind, and that could be because of his previous drug use, his previous alcohol use, or that he is currently drinking and/or using. He is not in a steady frame of mind, that I can guarantee.

It is horrible.
I am having the exact same observation. A successful public speaker must have a healthy degree of narcissism, or they would not be able to do that type of activity. But when such strong sense of self efficacy is not subjected to meekness and obedience, it gets out of control. The person does become defensive, hostile, wounded and paranoid. It is heartbreaking.

This is becoming most uncharitable (post 704)…praying would be the better option than this…

He has mentioned names…I can recall at least 4. His prior life is very plausible…

All this reminds me of how important it is that we live our lives in such a way that our credibility is hard to call into question.

What I am reading now has me thinking, not only are people questioning Fr Corapi’s behavior, the are now calling into question his very credibility of his life journey.
