I’m very upset. I made a fairly large donation yesterday in hopes that they would stand strong against the pro-choicers, but I guess they made a fool out of me.
They should offer refunds, but yeah…I’m sure you are not alone today. This is SO like anything associated with PP - I’ve come to expect such stunts from PP. The Father of Lies is listed in their BOD…

This was posted on a friend’s wall: I would definitely try to get a refund of my contribution.

If you donated to Komen in the past few days and want a refund:
Telephone: 1.877.GO.KOMEN
Email: donorinquiry@komen.org

And if they didn’t offer the refund I would call my credit card company and have them reverse the payment. Based on fraud.

I think that they are offering refunds. If not saying that you want to reverse payment based on fraud could get toying some trouble.

I’m really confused as to why anyone thought that the decision to stop funding PP was made for pro-life reasons. There was never any statement to that effect. I think that a lot of people are guilty of wishful thinking.

Here’s something a friend posted on FB. I haven’t gone to the 40 Days for Life website to check it out, but it sounds like Abby.

Abby Johnson: Pro-life advocate

Do not be discouraged. Nothing has changed with regard to Komen. It makes sense that Komen put out this statement. They have a pack of hounds on their back. The abortion industry is stating, “give us money or we will destroy you.” This is Komen’s attempt to save their organization, which we should know is in peril. The pro-life movement has not really been diligent in sending letters of support. They are receiving thousands of letters from the pro-choice movement villianizing them for their decision.

It has been known and has been reported that they are continuing five grants through 2012. This is a reference to that. They are saying that groups, including PP, have the ability to apply for grants. Any group can apply for anything. It does not mean they are going to get the grant.

Please continue to support Komen and send letters of encouragement.

Oh, we’re not under any illusions that Komen is a pro-life organization. None at all. However, any funding pulled from PP helps to keep babies alive. Komen has been affected by pro-life efforts to stop them from marketing things like Bibles when they are giving funds to Planned Parenthood, however. That campaign would have netted them Christian money, from people who don’t know that they give to Planned Parenthood. It was killed because Christians who DO know what Komen is about, protested and got the Bibles pulled, so they stopped the production.

This has given them the wrong sort of publicity, for now, more and more people understand that Komen and PP are partners.

I buy nothing, with a pink ribbon on it, from the Komen foundation!! I also shout that from the rooftop to all of my friends or anyone in ear shot. Always beware of wolves in sheeps clothing!!
Just re-stating!!

The real beef here is that Komen promotes the fight against breast cancer, but yet it withdrew some funding from PP, which for some women is the only way they can afford health care.

How could a charity that wants people to survive publicly withdraw some funding from a women’s health service? It made no sense to me, and was yet another way that people are promoting a political agenda to the detriment of poor women.

I imagine that PP has never seen so much funding this year from donations due to all these public arguments. Whenever one donor gives up, there are two to fill its place.

I personally don’t agree with all that PP promotes, but I do agree with affordable health care for poor women.

Does anyone know if there is a pro-life organization that promotes health care for poor women the way PP does?

PP was receiving 600K from Susan Komen for a service it didn’t provide - how do you call that health care?

I added the quotes to your post, because the term health care, when it applies to Planned Parenthood, mostly means the death of unborn babies.

Not the way PP does, no. Not providing abortions to poor women. Planned Parenthood’s main income stream is from killing babies, not the pap smears and dispensing of birth control pills and condoms. Their “health care” is also not free, although it is provided on a sliding scale. If you go there for a pregnancy test, and do not want to abort your baby, you are charged at least $30 for the test. If you abort, it’s “free.”

Catholic Charities and many other organizations provide true health care to the poor.

That’s just plain wrong. I have received two free pregnancy tests from planned parenthood(never any talk of abortion), several free pap smears, and years worth of birth control free. However, abortion is not free. They do go pretty low on it, but unless you can get an outside grant about as low as you can get for a medicinal abortion is $300, and for a surgical is about $600.

Gee what a bargain…

😦

Murder for hire for only $600, and legal to boot…What a sad nation we have become.

Its one thing to have complaints about PP, its another to lie. I think honest and open discussion about abortion is a good thing. Using lies to try to prove a point is wrong and only hurts your case.

I only know a few people that went to planned parenthood. The birth control was free but not the abortion. They make their money off the abortion.

When I was young, a friend went to planned parenthood when she was pregnant. She was a minor and they did not discuss any options but abortion. She had a date set to kill her baby before she left the office when just finding out she was pregnant. No parent involvement. Very sad.

I protest every Thursday in front of planned parenthood. It is their surgical abortion day.

One - there is a Christian organization called Care net just down the street from PP that will take care of woman. They will even take care of you through your pregnancy. Does planned parenthood offer prenatal care? Their name is a joke.

Two - I wonder about the free pregnancy test. Their is a Rite Aid pharmacy right by PP. One day we say a young girl running down the street. A few minutes later the manager of Rite Aid came running after. Yelled a the police officer to get her. Of course, he does nothing, he is there to make sure that PP is free to kill babies.

Later we talking to the manager. She stole 3 pregnancy test. Why wouldn’t she have gone to PP if they were free?

I was quoting the post below my post, which said a surgical abortion costs $600 where she is. And I am not lying. Here where I am, the 4th largest city in the US, PP is not free. Their pregnancy tests are not free. Their birth control is on a sliding scale. Of course you can lie about your income, which I hear that some women do.

I don’t need to lie, PP is a despicable organization that hurts women and kills babies every day but Sunday.

What’s Wrong With Planned Parenthood?

Um, yes, it is a sliding scale, but I assure you, if you make little enough both are free.

And yes, saying that its free if you plan to abort but $30 if you are going to keep the baby is a flat out lie.

Actually, as far as price points go you may be looking at non Title X clinics. Their birth control and exams ate far more expensive because they do not receive federal funds, although they are still sliding scale… The Title X clinics do offer many of their services for free if you meet the income requirements.

No, sorry, that is first-hand information, please do not accuse others of lying when you have no idea what my source is.

OK. But your source was wrong. It is a medical clinic, and that would be discriminating on the basis of creed. When something like that goes to court, I’ll believe it. As it stands now I have always received compassionate professional care, and you have hearsay.

And I didn’t mean to call you a liar, but you are repeating lies about PP. A simple phone call to a clinic will give you their prices.
