I really want to take my family to St. Agatha’s one of these Sundays. If you see a family w/three kids, a 12 yo girl and two younger boys, that’s me!!
I will look forward to seeing you all when I move back to St. Louis in a few months. 🙂

This whole thread has been too cool! My hubby takes my boys to Rascals games all of the time. Do you all ever feel like we’ve all probably been at the same game, church event, etc.?

God Bless,

PS: If we go to St. Agatha’s, should we wait until the regular Pastor gets back, or is the fill-in just as good? I’m only asking because I really want my hubby and kids to get the full beauty of the Latin Mass experience.
Nicole, I don’t think that you should wait. The “fill-in” Fr. Albert, is actually a regular there, although he is retired from “active duty” as a parish priest. He and the pastor, Fr. Rodis, switch off usually for the Tridentine Mass. So, instead of Fr. Albert every other week (or some schedule), he is saying the Tridentine Mass weekly.

St. Louis is a “big small town” so I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve crossed paths before. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and a 6 month old daughter. The past few weeks, we’ve been sitting towards the back (for easy fussy baby escape) on the Mary side of the aisle.

Hope to see you there! This Sunday will be High Mass.

A friend of mine in the FSSP passed along a rumor that Archbishop Burke has decided to turn over St. Francis de Sales church on Ohio St. to the Institute of Christ the King. I am a little disappointed that this puts both Tridentine Masses so close to one another (I think it would be better if they put one out in St. Charles or North St. Louis County or some such so that the folks out there would not have to drive so far on Sunday), but if this is true, it is still good news for the community. Two masses are better than one, and the Institute will also take over the running of the parish school. Unfortunately, I can find no confirmation of this claim on either the Archdiocese website or the Institute’s website. As such, we should all pray that this turns out to be true, and not just a bit of misinformation.

Meanwhile, I do not wish to sound overly critical, but while we are praying for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, I think we should all pray for a speedy and cordial resolution to the St. Stanislaus conflict. I have nothing but the deepest admiration for Archbishop Burke’s courageous stand vis-a-vis pro-abortion politicians and the Eucharist, but I think that the archbishop has made a poor choice in going after St. Stan’s with such vigor. This is going to alienate a lot of otherwise faithful Catholics, so we should pray that both sides come together in charity to end the standoff.

I, too, would like to see the Latin Mass being put out into the surrounding communities, especially in East St. Charles Co, where it’s tough to find a Mass that is said “by the book.”

Unfortunately, St. Stans “board of directors” is not allowed in Canon law & the Archbishop is a Canon Lawyer if I’m not mistaken. I sincerely think that he is not trying to close the parish; just to bring it in line like the rest of the archdiocese. If they don’t do it, then they are no better than the SSPX or any other schizmatic group. I, too, pray that the situation gets settled soon and we can all move on. I avoid the “Post-Disgrace” when it talks about the Church. It looks for ANYTHING to discredit the Church or the Archbishop.

FYI…Covenant Network (WRYT Catholic Radio) has their annual pledge drive during the week of 8/23. Be sure to help if you can!
