Did you miss
Yes, I did miss that. My question is why wasn’t such an audit performed two years ago? And they should have some preliminary findings already, because a theft of such a large amount of money would be easy to spot.

I would certainly think so.

It seems one of the problems is they can’t find a theft.
“To date we have found nothing to substantiate the allegations that have been raised, and, in fact, with regard to the parish finances, we know that the allegation that Father Miqueli stole $1 million from each parish, as was alleged by the plaintiffs’ attorney, is completely false,” Zwilling stated.
Continuing, Zwilling stated that the archdiocese has asked that those making claims “please provide us with documentation, but they have thus far failed to do so.” He reiterated his request that anyone with information or documentation contact the Archdiocese or the District Attorney

Apparently there are photocopies of a few sizable checks made payable to the priest from the parish stipend account that contradict the claims from the Archdiocese. Checks as large as $14,000 written to him personally and signed by him.

So the claim by the Archdiocese is in doubt.

Miqueli was ordained in 1991. At least one other priest ordained that year is having a lot of issues and many parishioners are complaining! I would not be surprised if parishioners will soon complain to the Archdiocese in writing. One can’t help but wonder if something went wrong during formation.
