New York Cardinal Dolan says Church failed to teach against contraception

The more I see of this new cardinal, the more I like him. It’s time we had a cleric that tells it like it is. God bless him.
 
In other news, public school principals are clamping down against slutty prom dresses but our brides and bridesmaids show up in church so immodestly dressed that other visitors to the church are forced to stare down at the floor in order to avoid the scandalous sight surrounding them. Meanwhile, the silence of our Bishops and Priests is deafening.

What we have to put up with in our churches in the USA is a disgrace, and it’s only happening because our Bishops and Priests failed to speak out. Contrast the USA to Italy and Europe - the Church in Europe does enforce the rules of modesty, and people do not attend church there dressed like hookers.

We are approaching the point where our Bishops will have to learn some braveness from the secular world and specifically from the example of the school principals: enough is enough, lay down the rules of a dress code, get specific about the requirements, and enforce the rules. We who are supposed to be the salt of the world need to get a dose of salt from the world, because we have become worse than the secular world around us.
 
I LOVE Cardinal Dolan!!! I’m actually thinking of writing him a letter of how much I love what he’s doing, and to thank him for his bold and unapologetic defense of the Faith.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit I pray:
Thank You Lord for Blessing our nation with Cardinal Timothy Dolan. I ask that you continue to use him as Your instrument. Holy Spirit I pray that You would continue to speak through this holy prelate of Your most Holy Church. I pray that You would give him strength when he needs it, and I pray that he would continue to be a beacon of joy and light to the Church in New York, as well as to the whole nation, and beyond!!!

Moreover, I pray that many Bishops and priests would take notice of the wonderful example set by Cardinal Dolan, and follow it in their own ministry.

I don’t know whether to laugh or be appalled at that. Those “secular” teachers who enforced the dress code don’t have what it takes to condemn contraception and abortion do they? Because Cardinal Dolan does, and he’ll probably have you in stitches after he’s done so 👍

Before you ask our Bishops to be brave, let’s remember that 100% of the Catholic AND Orthodox Bishops in this country all used their voices to rail against the contraception mandate.

Well, God bless our youth! And God bless Cardinal Dolan! He’s 100% right, and I am so grateful for his outspoken forthright attitude!
 
He is correct! I never hear it from the pulpit, and let’s face it, that is the ONLY place the majority of Catholics are getting their formation. I have only heard about abortion ONCE from the pulpit! I take that back, twice, once was a beating-around-the-bush version.

A dozen years ago or so, I attended a Catholic wedding where the bridesmaids were changing in the vestibule at the rear of the church. Supposedly, they hadn’t time beforehand to change elsewhere. There they were, six young women in their panties and pantyhose pulling their dresses over their heads, making adjustments, fixing their make-up, etc. The modesty of the dresses was not at issue. I couldn’t believe that anyone would think of doing such a thing in the back of a church!
 
I’ve actually thought that in many ways Obama has done the Church a huge favor with his attack. And this would seem to be proof of that. Because of what has hapened, it has given the head of the US Bishops an opportunity to draw attention to the fact that so many have either ignored or abandoned or even outright disobyed Church teaching in the past 50 years.

With such a courageous stand taken by the Cardinal in making this statement, although persecution may increase, the spiritual condition of the Church could vastly improve, and that can only be good!
