I’m saying don’t pre-judge anyone without the facts. We don’t know all the facts.

It’s not rocket science.

Secondly it’s easy to go from pre-judging in one situation to vilifying a whole class of people.

These people weren’t representative of motorcycle riders, or range rover drivers… whatever the facts
I haven’t heard anyone claim they are representative of anyone. Paranoid?

These bikers get together here in St. Louis and do outrageous stunts, endangering themselves and others on the road. They are those loud obnoxious bikes.
CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) – St. Louis County police say unlike last year the annual stunt motorcyclist riding event, Streetfighterz Ride of the Century 2012, was contained over the weekend.
Police say of the 25-hundred motorcyclists that descended on the area 63 of them were issued tickets, and 19 arrests made, including two drug arrests and one person on an outstanding warrant. Eighteen motorcycles were towed. Three guns were seized.
Police from almost every department in the region were on board for the event. Even helicopters were used to spot riders doing stunts. Police cars were also on the ground used “rolling roadblocks” and positioning their cars side by side ahead of the riders to slow them down.
Friday night in south county, a rider doing stunts weaved into the path of a car on I-55 and was run over. The rider got up, dusted himself off, and rode away.

Every year, the Streetfighterz from St. Louis, MO, call together riders across the country to convene for a few days of street bike mayhem. Speed. Wheelies. Danger. It’s all part of their sport.
Here’s a glimpse of what its like to see over 500 bikers take over the highways.
These are not innocent people.

Where does it say they were trying to stop the car in order to rob it?
They had the “biker” on CNN. “Rome” was his name, he said they were stopping the vehicle so they could do stunts and continue to break the law. He also admitted the man was scared to death. 🤷 He said they get together every weekend to ride together and break the law. 😉

What I still don’t understand, why was the tension escalated after the car driver rear-ended the biker, and they pulled to the side of the road.

I was once rear-ended by another car, we both stopped, and I saw a lady in the car that rear-ended me, she was almost crying, nervous and scared. She also had a child (5-y.o. boy) with her. So, I comforted her, I even helped her collect some parts that have fallen off her car, I smiled and said a few friendly words to the little fella, and afterwards we just went our ways after exchanging phone numbers and insurance details.

I don’t get this rage thing. Especially since nobody was seriously hurt when the Range Rover initially rear-ended the biker, why not just give thanks to God and act in a friendly manner towards each other?

The story was out yesterday that the car driver ran into a bike, and drove over him, then left the scene. The footage I’ve seen is first in the country and later in the city. The biker is in serious condition. I saw it on tv, and I’m not sure I can find the footage. Just my two cents, though.

Right. That is what happened after the 1st biker pulled in front of him and slowed down; which caused the driver to bump the back tire of the 1st biker. The rest of the bikers surrounded the driver and were threatening him…that’s when he gunned it to get out of the situation.

Note: Despite running over the other biker, the police filed no charges against the driver. He was trying to escape a scary and dangerous situation, not intentionally run people over.

The poor driver is completely innocent. He was trying to protect his baby and wife from this crazy mob.

Right that was after the hijacking in the middle of the highway of an innocent man and his family who had no idea of what was about to go down. Imagine what went through his mind in those quick moving moments. All that so the so-called adult “bikers” could play rodeo with their toys with total disregard, for the man and his family, everyone else, themselves , the law, and frankly the entire world. And then they have the nerve to chase and assault the man because he quickly acted to save what he surely thought was his and his families life.

No passing go, right to jail and the cage with the rest of the animals. Sorry we don’t want to stereotype innocent families choosing to live and breath out here as homicidal maniacs with motor vehicles either.

So not to rob him then.

Stopping someone is bad, especially to do stunts, but the claim had been made a few times on this thread that they were trying to rob him.

Not defending anything but the truth here.

This is the scary part… OK, it was kind of daredevilish and not very mature of that first biker to come in front of the car, and brake like that… But at that point, at least he wasn’t trying to rob the car, and nobody was seriously hurt at that point. The situation could have been de-escalated, and these two people (the biker and the car driver) could have exchanged a few friendly words with each other, something along the lines of “OK, bro, no big deal, we are both safe and sound” - end of story.

Why had this thing exploded into the angry confrontation that followed? :o

No there was no mention of robbery. They were freeing up a piece of road. The family had no idea what was occurring.

I was only half listening and I wasn’t sure what was going on.

Because he said so. Right:rolleyes:

Because everyone knows criminals are so honest. 👍

Because they had the car surrounded and then stopped it just as explained above. The wife and husband became scared, also acknowledged by the bikers. Stupid move and as a result tragic consequences occurred. So it wasn’t one biker, there were hundreds. In fact it was estimated at their previous stop there were 500. They rode on sidewalks and all the above transgressions already mentioned occurred their also.

I love when Monday morning quarterbacks explain how much better they would have handled a situation they were not in. They always have a perfect game plan and never lose a game or make a mistake. 🤷

When you get a group of people with a certain mind set together. They patch together some sort of entitlement mentality. I’ve seen it before where they try to act like police officers, and block traffic. Which is against the law. If I can indulge in a short anecdote. I was returning home a few years ago from a successful bear hunt driving along US-2 with a logging truck in the lane next to me. He was fully loaded, and as some may know. They don’t stop all that well when they are. So we came around this curve 55mph when this “motorcyle-enthuisiast” on his Harley just pulls in front of us, stops, and holds out his arm palm forward. His plan was to stop traffic on the highway so his buddy’s could pull out of the restaurant parking lot in some sort of formation. That plan didn’t work out too well.

LOL, hey, you have to give credit where its due though, least he used a legal hand signal.

The Lawrence motor*cyclist struck and paralyzed as a desperate SUV driver tried to escape the rage of other bikers in New York on Sunday has a six-page criminal record that began at age 12 with a negligent driving charge and includes jail time for drugs, guns, resisting arrest and other convictions, according to court records.

Edwin Mieses, 32, never got a driver’s license in the Bay State, the Registry of Motor
Vehicles said, but he was frequently nabbed behind the wheel, and even sentenced to jail for driving without a license, court records show. Mieses has a pending case out of Lawrence District Court for driving suspended, subsequent offense, said Carrie Kimball Monihan, spokeswoman for the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. Mieses also has 15 guilty findings for criminal offenses including distribution of cocaine, possession of a firearm without a permit, knowingly receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and several motor vehicle violations, court records show.

Mieses was sentenced to jail in 2004 for distribution of cocaine, in 2001 for operating without a license, in 2000 for possession of a firearm, and in 1999 for possession of
marijuana, receiving stolen property, destruction of property and attaching plates, according to court records.

We don’t know that this is the case.

The driver could just as easily clipped or hit one of the riders prior to this. We don’t know.
I’m trying to understand why you would be defending these people and their actions. Even if this driver did as you say, these bikers had no right to become vigilantes.

The driver’s reaction when surrounded by them and considering he had his wife and small child with him was a natural and understandable action. I can’t say I would not have done the same in that situation.

You and I are typically on the same side but on this one there is no justification for the biker’s actions no matter what the driver of the SUV did.
