In this article I am made to believe from the New York Times the following:
- The Vatican declined to defrock U.S. priest who abused boys for X reason.
- The Pope also declined to defrock U.S. priest who abused boys for X reason.
- That the U.S. bishops (the good guys) constantly called on the Vatican for their help.
- The Vatican and the Pope #1 priority was to cover up the scandal.
- Pope Benedict did not alert local authorities in Munich of a bad priest.
- The Vatican conducted a “secret canonical” trial for Fr. Murphy.
- The New York Times in its valiant approach fought so hard to obtain documents, which the church fought to keep secret.
- Fr. Murphy was never tried or disciplined by the church’s own justice system.
- The Vatican’s insistence on secrecy has often impeded such cooperation with local authorities
- The Church is hiding all the documents in the case and continuing to cover up sex abuse.
