New York Times writer Ross Douthat has defended Catholic theological and moral teachings, in a series of articles explaining how the Church is not “fundamentalist” but simply “orthodox.”

NYT, wow. Working there, I bet he’s had tacks left on his desk chair and his file drawers glued shut from time to time! 😛

Nah. The New York Times is America’s best newspaper and that article confirms it for me. 🙂

Read something by Maureen Dowd regarding faith or religious people some time.
Read their coverage of abortion.
Read their coverage of anything pope related.
Watch for the lens in which they interpret motives and intentions of religious people.

The NYT may be America’s most prestigious newspaper, but America has always been inherently hostile to catholicism. It just takes a different form in today’s world than it did in yesterday’s. I’m glad they have this fellow writing for them and yes, that’s a good mark for their integrity. But if you consider them the model of journalistic impartiality that THEY consider themselves to be, you’ve been fooled.

IMO, there IS no such thing as journalistic impartiality. Anyone who won’t admit their bias is simply a snake oil salesman.
